I personally think coconut flavored rum would go better. I'm not a spiced rum fan. I'm not a coconut fan either unless it has the word rum after it. 
Coconut Ciroc and Pineapple juice is very, very nice. That's all I have to say about that.

My mother in law does this during the summer, and by that I mean she puts a scoop of ice cream into her Malibu and juice.

Definitely plan to try one (though I must admit I've never actually had a plain Dole Whip before...that's on the to-do list, too!)

I would say try a plain one first just because I don't want the alcohol to ruin it for ya...lol
