Thanks, Kristen, rereading that piece was very helpful towards planning our wardrobes for Jiko this fall.

For hubby: collared shirt, nice slacks, and non-athletic shoes, with a jacket and possibly tie as an option (he won't mind, he likes dressing up a lot more than I do).

For me: nice slacks (I don't do skirts or dresses anymore) with an equally nice blouse and possibly jacket (I have a few matching outfits) and also nice non-athletic shoes.

Think we'll pass muster?

Absolutely CCP. I like to dress up but when I am on vacation I don't bring skirts or dresses because I have to wear those every day at work.

I've never done signature dining (or any table service, for that matter), but even when my friends and I went "out" to Downtown Disney one night just for some shopping and eating (at Earl of Sandwich), we dressed fairly nicely. Still casual, but nicer than the shorts and tees/tanks we had been wearing to spring training games. So I can only imagine when I do get a chance to try signature dining, I'll be pulled together. And the smallest things can make even the most casual clothes look more dressed up (as long as they aren't old and torn). Like adding a cardigan/blazer and a bold necklace to jeans and a tee with flats looks almost downright fancy compared to jeans and a tee with tennis shoes.

I am with the dress up crowd - especially for the true signature restaurants. In the Disney world, or in the real world, it makes a difference when you're out for a special dinner.

Shorts, t-shirts, hats, flip-flops . . . I am OK with that (and have been seen in that) at Pecos Bill, the Food Courts, Crystal Palace, and even the various World showcase restaurants . . .When you are in a park for the day, it truly is 'come as you are'. I feel the same about Applebee's, Chili's, Crab Pot, etc.

But at the nicer, signature, mostly Resort based restaurants . . . Neat and Pretty - slacks, collared shirts for the guys, slacks, skirts, blouses, sweater set for the ladies . . . a step above the casual of the day. awesome

Now for Victoria and Albert's . . . When eating there, I've been known to wear my absolute best, special event clothes. I find I behave in a manner better suited to the elegance of the place if I look my best. See? I even talk prettier just thinking about partaking of a meal at that establishment . . . laugh

I may be in the minority here, but I'm often MORE comfortable in a dress then I am in jeans and a t-shirt. I dress up for work in business casual too, but even on vacation I just feel like a nice, breezy sun dress and flats is way more comfy then constricting jeans. Obviously an evening gown and panty hose is a different story and takes more effort and is less comfortable, but going slightly dressier doesn't phase me in the slightest.

I totally agree. I hate wearing jeans...I would rather wear a skirt or dress. As a matter of fact, our arrival day last year, I wore a sundress to animal kingdom and it was wonderful!

Not really - I've only been down there three times. And of I've only done the parks one of those three times. Another trip was Wide World Of Sports/Downtown Disney, and then the other was a really quick 24 hour trip to Orlando and back where I stopped in at DTD. So far I'm definitely doing one TS (Beaches and Cream), possibly two (Cape May Cafe) during my trip in September. But I'm cheap and don't like to spend park time at restaurants, so I'm perfectly fine doing QS.

Exactly! If I could get away with sundress and sandals all year long I would. Definitely more comfortable in the Disney heat.. But to each his/her own! muchlove

I'm with the dress-up crowd. I always dress up for dinner, even if it's a casual dinner spot. If it's a signature restaurant, even dressier. Even though I'm on vacation, I treat it as if I'm at home. I wouldn't go to a signature restaurant at home in shorts. That's just me, although it doesn't phase me as to what others are wearing. I think it adds to my dining experience to dress. As a matter of fact, we decided this year on our cruise, to go all out on one elegant night. I normally wear a cocktail dress and hubs is in dress slacks and jacket. We thought it would be fun to do a tux and gown this year. Don't have to, but want to once.

But, I'm kind of like Kristen to a certain extent, it was in my raising. I am also one of the few last hold-outs that refuses to wear pants to a wedding, funeral or Church. Smile

Fun! You'll have to share pics when you decide on a gown!

That's the great thing about my Colonel garb; I'm always spiffy. Mrs. Colonel wears her de rigueur floral print house dress, saggy panty hose, combat boots and pill box hat. We always look smashing, although we smell a bit.

I'm searching! I haven't ever worn what I consider a "gown". Even my prom days, we were in the 80's so it was southern belle dresses! Lol.
