DVC Availability 12/5-12/11

So we're planning on renting DVC points for our upcoming Disney World trip from 12/5-12/11. Of course I was ready to submit my form immediately at 11 months out, however all the major DVC rental companies (David's DVC Rental, DVC Request, etc) switched their policy only a few weeks before our 11 month window opened, and they now charge a premium of $2 a point extra to book at 11 months out for most resorts. Unfortunately with how much we would already be spending, we couldn't justify this extra cost. However, the planner in me has been silently freaking out for the past couple of months as I know that this is a busy DVC week due to the smaller amount of points required.

We still are a couple of weeks away from being able to submit our request within the 7 month window, so I still have a couple weeks to worry. Am I correct in my understanding that DVC members are able to go in and check the availability for different room types and resorts in the DVC villas? And if so, would anyone be so kind as to go and see what the current availability is for our top choices so that I can either be put a little more at ease OR, if my worries are indeed founded, so that we can figure out a new plan?

Our current wish list is as follows:

1. Boardwalk Two Bedroom Standard View
2. Beach Club Two Bedroom
3. Boardwalk Two Bedroom Preferred View
4. Contemporary Two Bedroom Standard View
5. Wilderness Lodge Two Bedroom
6. Animal Kingdom Lodge Two Bedroom Savannah View
7. Animal Kingdom Lodge Two Bedroom Standard View

Thanks for any help/advice/encouragement/finger crossing!

That's ok! She was amazingly helpful and checked out a ton of options for me and we're thinking now about possibly pushing the trip back a week as there is better availability then. We shall see! crossfingers

Have you come up with another plan?

Our plan right now is to submit our request at the 7 month mark for Dec 5th-11th like we originally wanted, on the off chance that something has opened up. If nothing that we want is available we're going to wait and submit again at the 7th month window for Dec 12th-18th and hope that something we want is still available that week. We shall see! crossfingers crossfingers crossfingers

Well we put in our request last week and were told there was full availability for a 2 bedroom at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs with partial availability for a 2 bedroom at Beach Club or Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah View. Tomorrow we are 7 months out from the 12/12 - 12/18 week that we are considering so we will put in our request and see what we're able to get for that week. If we still aren't happy with the options we will probably go back to the original week and aim for (if they're still available) Old Key West for the first couple of nights with a move over to Beach Club.

I am kinda looking forward to my split stay Allie - 4 nights at SS, and over the BW for the last 3. Waitlisted the whole thing at BW but not early enough out.

Too bad you do not have the waitlist option when renting, no? Doesn't work that way - you have to book what is available. BUT I think your plan to do OKW and Beach Club is great. Both beachy themes, no? Smile And both fun in their own way.

Yeah, that's the backup at least. If it were just DH and I we would have no problems doing a split stay, but we will also have Dh's parents, brother, and our two year old in tow that would quite possibly make it quite a hassle. If we can't get a full stay at Beach Club or Boardwalk though it might be our best option. awesome

Yeah, I think split on property is better than offsite. But you know your family best! awesome

Oh we FOR SURE aren't staying offsite! That was never an option! laugh Worst comes to worst we will stay the full week at either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. I just was talking to Skunk over email though and he said availability is still looking good for the the 12th-18th so fingers crossed for tomorrow crossfingers

Fingers crossed! You really cannot lose with any DVC property - I have a few "favorites," but each time I have stayed at SS I have enjoyed the quiet, relaxed feel.

Fingers crossed, Allie! I hope you get Boardwalk or Beach Club. We haven't managed to get Beach Club yet, but we've gotten Boardwalk a few times, so maybe you'll at least have luck there!

I'm emailing back and forth with the reps right now and it is sounding like both Beach Club and Boardwalk are full, even for a partial stay. Bummer. Waiting to hear back on what is available for our dates and go from there. I hate that we had to wait for the 7 month window!!! yuck
