DVC Rentals?

Hey group!

I'm already starting to think about our next trip, I'm thinking Spring of next year...but DH thinks maybe for New Years!!

I'm interested in renting points at OKW resort as we're thinking we'd like to purchase points there. Does anyone have suggestions of good places to go to rent points? Does DVC rent directly to the public?

Sounds great! As far as I know, DVC doesn't rent directly to the public. The best option is to find a DVC member who's able to "rent" you points (i.e. you pay them an arbitrary amount and they book a vacation for you with their points). I've done this a couple of times and have had great success.

The DisBoards rent/trade forum is a great place to find folks willing to rent points. Check out this link for all the FAQs: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/RentTrade-FAQ.htm One thing I'd suggest is that if you're renting from someone you don't know, considering paying to put the points in "escrow" until you arrive for your vacation (sounds confusing, but the FAQ page will explain).

I've done some research on DVC, went to the sales presentation on our trip last year. They give you a nice hardcover book with great pictures and diagrams of all of the resorts. Since it's just the two of us, a Studio would be plenty of space and I like the layout of the OKW studios the best. This trip we drove over to OKW to see the resort, pool, layout etc.

It's beautiful...also since it's one of the older vacation clubs the landscaping has really grown in and it is LUSH!! Plus we like being on the Sassagoula - hence PO Riverside being our favorite resort. It makes getting to DTD pleasurable instead of a parking nightmare! On top of that, the location is ideal for getting to all of the parks, MK and Epcot are really close and Studios and Typhoon Lagoon are too much of a drive. The only one that's kind of far is AK but that's true for just about any of the resorts.
