DVR Alert: ABC to air the Story of Frozen on Sep 2

I just saw that on September 2 ABC will be showing the "Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic" (sorry this is probably only in the US). Should be an interesting peek into what goes into making Disney's animated movies.

Oh what a shame. But you get to experience Frozen up close and personal.

If you get the Buzz network, they are airing "A Frozen Special". I have it set to record tonight (12:30am - 1:00am).

I suppose Disney is making amends after people felt cheated with the "Making of Frozen" music video featurette in the DVDs. But anyway, I think more people will be interested in to hear about the future announcements where hopefully we'll have more answers about what direction Disney is going with the Frozen brand. I'd like to think that Frozen will take over Newsies' place on Broadway given how Newsies is closing and is going on a national tour. And maybe we'll get a confirmation of whether or not the Frozen overlay at Epcot and the re-theme of Maelstrom will come to terms.

Right now it is rumored that Hunchback will replacing Newsies. Only rumors at this point, though.

Lucky you for being in Disney soon, Allie!!! The rest of us (or at least me) with have to make do with TV.

Hunchback is still listed as a potential show to come to Broadway; no date or theater has been announced (but it will be at La Jolla Playhouse in October 2014 & Paper Mill Playhouse in March 2015): http://www.playbill.com/celebritybuzz/article/80060-Schedule-of-Upcoming-Broadway-Shows

Some clips from the upcoming special, if interested below. I heard earlier about how Let It Go was supposedly a villain song originally but Do You Want To Build A Snowman almost getting cut? Wow! And I thought the decision to almost cut Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid was terrifying enough! (fyi, I am fully aware that POYW did not go so well with test audiences at the time but thank heavens for Howard Ashman!)

We watched it here, and everyone enjoyed it very much. I was really worried at the end that they were going to announce Frozen coming to Epcot. I was THRILLED that the big announcement was just that there's going to be a new Frozen short instead.

I was worried about the announcement too, Kristen, so I'm glad it wasn't what we were dreading wink My favorite part was John Lassiter's Olaf Hawaiian shirt awesome

It was very interesting to watch last night. You could definitely tell how personal and how the real life connections among the actors, animators and just about everyone in the cast and crew were prevalent in Frozen. So aside from the already confirmed ice show and Frozen appearances on Once Upon A Time, I really wasn't all that surprised about a new Frozen short. I know some really want a sequel but given the poor track record of Cars 2, Monsters University and most Disney animated sequels, I do think a Frozen short may be better off. I don't necessarily buy that the rumor of Maelstrom to Frozen is completely dead, however. On the other hand, I loved the clip from Big Hero 6. It was quite funny.

I agree, I'm pretty excited about the short, don't think there is much to go on for a 2nd movie to be quite honest. I told the hubby he needs that Olaf shirt for our cruise in Feb, I may need to find it!!!!

We go to Frozen on Ice next month in Atlanta. I can't wait!!! It will be a surprise for Blondie! She just got the dresses so I will take both and let her pick which one to wear!

Monsters University was extremely popular. Just the movie alone has grossed almost $800 million worldwide and that's not including any of the tie in merchandise. MU is actually in the list of top 100 highest grossing films(worldwide) of all time. Cars 2 was also quite successful and it's earned over $500million worldwide, again without including the price of tie in merchandise.

Seeing as Frozen is the number 5 top grossing film of all time (worldwide) I would be shocked if they don't make a sequel at some point.

I stand corrected. Monsters University, to my surprise, made more domestically than the Incredibles, my favorite Pixar film!

This must have the Frozen special that premiered last night after the premiere of Frozen on pay tv. I enjoyed it and I now realise that Idina Menzel played Nancy in Enchanted, I had no idea. Here's hoping that Frozen on Ice will be next years Disney on Ice show.
