Epcot Food and Wine is Coming! Time to Share Tips and Advice

yay

The 20th Food and Wine Festival is coming to Epcot and I know it is popular with Grown Ups. There is so much to do, see and sample that I thought this would be a great place to start gathering hints and hot spots. Also suggestions on what to avoid. Unfortunately World Showcase can become a bit of an amateur hour in the early evening on the weekends. I would hate for anyones F&W experience to be hindered by a few groups that only want to have every drink option checked off of their homemade t-shirts. I am not a prude, and the t-shirt of the countries cocktails in a interesting idea, but you dont need to do it all in one afternoon.

So lets share!

I always say, "you can't eat too much at the food and wine festival." Beer

F&W my favorite topic and I have only been to ONE! This year will be number 2 for me and I can not wait. I agree with The Colonel, you just can't!

With that in mind, have you checked out the menus yet? Myself as well as many of the other members make a list of "must try" and "maybe try". I print out a copy then start highlighting with different colors... That gets gone thru again and usually one more time. My first list this year was 75 items to try. I think I am down to 40 something right now. Luckily there are 4 of us girls going and we are going to share. I've attached the menus...

Don't try to do it all in one day obviously... and share. My hubby and I did last year. If we REALLY liked something we went back for more. Or in the case of the Bacon Hash (which is missing this year waiting ) we ordered 2 off the bat.

Stay hydrated and rest. Eating a lot really is hard. One of our days was really hot and we had to head to the room for a rest. I can not drink in the heat, I tried and it failed me as usual.

I don't remember a lot of "drunks" just people having a really good time. I was worried about that my first time also. A couple rowdy guys and gals here and there but that was it.

ps.... love the banner!!! yay

I definitely agree with avoiding the weekends if you can. Lots of the locals come to F&W Fest on the weekends and you do feel the crowds. Its still great though, but if you are there for more than just the weekend, plan around it.

Totally agree about weekends..We had a ADR for VN on a Saturday night last year ( big mistake ) When we came out it was a nightmare with crowds, we had to shuffle our way to the exit..

Plan a few of the special dining events or demonstrations to break up the day as well as giving yourself a break from the heat of the day.

Hit the popular booths early in the day when the World Showcase opens up, like: Canada, Brazil, France, Greece, Any stand selling mostly beer or libations biggrin awesome , Hawaii, Mexico..

Plan a few FP's throughout the day to break up the routine. Adds some extra steps into the day to burn off those calories.. laugh

Take advantage of the Chase lounge in America pavilion if you have a Chase credit card (It does NOT need to be Disney, either awesome ), Free A/C, comfy seating, free soft drinks, free festival maps, spectacular view of park, good meet up location..

Get the Passport... It has all the food and drinks listed for each country and makes it a challenge (game) to get as many countries stamped as you can... I've completed my book 2 of 3 years.. awesome

Get over to the festival welcome center. Plenty of things going on there.

Eat to the Beat Concerts - These concerts are free, and take place three times per evening (5:30pm, 6:45pm, 8:00pm). A great way to listen to some great music, rest your feet and eat some great international foods..

Purchase a specially designed Food & Wine Festival mini gift card to wear on your wrist. It makes it very easy to purchase your food and drink items at the food booths while still having free hands to carry food and drink.. No reaching for wallets or cash!! awesome

STAY HYDRATED!!! Pace yourself with the alcoholic beverages... It will sneak up on you in the Florida heat!! mad eek

November 5th can't get here soon enough!! waiting gaah yeah

Liquor before beer.

Forget about the North Korea kiosk.

No swimming in World Showcase Lagoon.
