Has anyone been playing Epic Mickey 2?

Our copy came last Friday and my kids have spent many hours running through the wasteland. We're not as impressed with it as we were the first game.

On one player mode we find Oswald's AI a little slow and "dumb", on two player mode we're having other troubles with getting Oswald to do this that happen automatically on one player mode. We've hit several spots where the game glitched and we had to reboot to get out of it. We're not sure what the point of the singing doctor is, and the layout of the "lands" aren't as similar to the parks as they were in the first game.

What have your thoughts been?

Loved the first game but the second one I basically finished in a week. First game took me like 4 months and 5 play throughs to complete all tasks which is worth the money in my book. This second game I pretty much finished in a week without the ability to complete all tasks due to the paint or thinner route not being available with a second or third play through. Storylines were weaker in the second game. Really disappointed in the second game. Hopefully they will make the third one more like the first. Seems to me that the third game will lead to Pete being the villian for that game.

As for the one player mode versus the two player mode: (on the wii) For one player mode I figured out that if you get mickey close to oswald and oswald shows the throw in the air symbol then press the mickey hand control " - " sign and oswald will throw mickey in the air. During two player mode then you have to use the opposite hand controllers to the characters to get the same motions to work.

Tip for sailing with oswald with mickey holding on his feet in one player mode: Have mickey get close to oswald. Press " -" for mickey to throw oswald in the air. Press " a " twice to double jump then mickey jumps and grabs oswalds legs. Use Numchuck up/ down/ left/ right/ controller to guide oswald to where you want to go.

In one player mode if you see oswald give a sign that you would like him to do then press the " - ". Hope this helps. Any other ??? I will try to answer.

LoL! That companion jump is totally the biggest place that we're having trouble on two player. Okay, I'm having trouble. My kids are frustrated playing with me because they're regular gamers and I'm (in their words) "not that good." I guess that I'll leave it mostly to them and just watch. We didn't buy the companion guide book for this version, but the kids have been watching walkthroughs online that have helped them move forward.

Ugh, after the way we all feel about this second game, I'm not so sure that we would buy a third.

This was driving me crazy until I figured it out by mistake/chance.

I've only spent a couple of hours with it so far, so haven't formed too much of an opinion yet, though I found the singing doc weird, and agree that Oswald can be a little slow at times. It seems a little more choppy with the storyline to me and less intuitive than the first, though it could be the distraction of 2 dogs vying for laptime every time I sit down to play Tongue

What have you guys thought about the terrains that you've been traveling through? The kids were pretty excited when they found themselves in what seemed like a Snow White Minecar Ride. Have you guys been through it? Do you think it offers any hints to what's being built in the new Fantasyland?

I think the Alice in Wonderland references are really cool. Especially the big chessire cat in one of the 2d games. I suppose there could be some hints of the new ride in Fantasyland in the rainbow canyon section of the game. Bog Easy and Frontierland is cool. I have the companion guide for the game. It isn't as well written as the one for the first game probably because it's for all three platforms the game is played on (wii, xbox and playstation) in the same book. Yes the singing doc is creepy.

I have Epic Mickey II: The Power of Two and The Power of Illusion, but I've only played Power of Illusion. I really like it! The graphics are fantastic and I like the 3D layering effect. The soundtrack is great too! It's classic Disney mixed with some familiar tunes from Epic Mickey I. Plus, you get to rescue lots of classic and new Disney characters, and it's really fun to see them interact with Mickey. And, of course, the gameplay is pretty fun, albiet a bit slow.

Buy, but I'm not ready to spend $40 on the new one.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have the first one and I really like it - especially all the Disney references! The music is nice too.
I looked on a few websites and here's what I came up with for Epic Mickey (I):

Amazon - $18.10 new +free shipping or ~$14.00 used
Gamestop - $19.99 new or $17.99 used
Wal-Mart - $21.99 new
Disney Epic Mickey - $19.99

Looks like Amazon would be your best bet, but then again, you could you probably find a better deal if you wait for sales.

Heads up everyone: GameStop is now selling Epic Mickey II: The Power of Two at a discount. It's still not cheap, but it's better than 50-60 dollars. Too bad I missed out on this deal.

Wii: $30 new, $25 used (Regular $50 new)
PS3: $40 new, $35 used (Regular $60 new)
Xbox 360: $40 new, $35 used (Regular $60 new)
