Extra Magic Hours

30 day countdown has begun. Custom maps arrived the other day think they are great! Starting to pull everything together and really fine tune our schedule. Now that I have teenagers we are going to be able to take advantage of the late night extra magic hours. On the heels of the Fast Pass topic and terrible wait times, how crowded is it during the late night hours? If we focus on the rides that are not as popular and take the few FP's that may be available during the daytime will be able to knock out some of the FP rides during the late night?

My experience has always been that when a park has Extra Magic Hours, that park is super busy. I always try to avoid the parks with the Extra Magic Hours for that reason.

Agreed. Unless it has early magic hours... thats a great time to go. Its usually the night of that has the super busy times. Say Magic Kingdom has late magic hours... then go there the next day. But for early hours... its usually better.

I've found that for Epcot and Hollywood Studios Extra Magic Hour is a huge waste of time. Since those parks have don't have a large number of rides open for EMH it can often become more crowded during EMH than at night.

However, the up-side is EMH for Magic Kingdom is amazing. Typically the park is open REALLY late (sometimes 3 a.m.) and usually by 1-2 most of the people have gone. Also, MK has a ton of rides open for EMH so the crowds that are there are distributed a little better.

How do you find out ahead of time when each park will have the Extra Magic Hours? Thanks.

If you go to Disneys website and look under Parks, go to calendar, click each day and the hours will be listed. Actually I am not sure you even have to click on each day. That info may be listed right there.

I also have a site somewhere... I think its on my desktop, that has the hours for way in advance. We already looked for when were going in November. Maybe the Disney site does that... just never looked there.

Disneys site is good for 6 months in advance. Pretty much by the time you can make your ADR's their schedules are up.

The night we go to Hollywood Studios is an EMH evening night... It's also Halloween, lol. We are just going to hope for the best.

Yup, they go hand in hand since so many people use the EMH's to plan out what parks the will be in and where they want to eat.
