Extra Magic Hours

So I just discovered this blog and I'm not quite sure if this is the place to ask my question but everyone here seems to have expansive Disney knowledge so I was hoping I'd get lucky. I will be visiting Disney World this October 19th - October 28th, and when I first planned my trip MK had EMH's October 22nd from 10pm - 12am, when looking over the calendar now I noticed that they have removed them and there are no evening EMH's for the 10 days I'm there. Does anyone know if this is a new trend? I had read that they were shortening the EMH's from three to two hours but this is my sixth trip in four years and I have never seen a time when there were no evening EMH's in MK.

I have never seen then go that long before without doing extra magic hours, but i have seen them change the hours and extend them when i was there so you may luck out. Do you plan on doing the mnsshp at all? That is always fun for us and it is like having emh

First off welcome You've come to the right place to ask about any and all things Disney World.

I haven't heard anything about them cancelling extra magic hours, and couldn't find anything when I googled. I think it must just be an unlucky time for the evening hours. Maybe someone can give more insight, but it looks like you just came at an unfortunate time for magic hours.

Last I heard they were cutting back at the Magic Kingdom but the others are remaining the same as in Epcot, HS, and AK. Also could be more for the Halloween thing they do.

I haven't heard anything about a cut back aside from moving down to 2 hours in the evening. My guess is that they are fewer at MK because of the Halloween Party being on the schedule at that time.

This is what I read, but I don't think it happens till 2013. But it looks like its happening now though.

I just went and checked since we will be there the week before you and wanted to make sure it hadn't changed, but according to the schedule on the official Disney World website we have one evening EMH at MK the week I am there and none the 10 days you are there, I'm assuming due to the Halloween parties? All other parks have the normal amount of EMHs...

Thanks for all your help!! We're going to one of the MNSSHP so that will help to give us extra MK time and I've never expereicned the party so I'm looking forward to it mickey Somehow there never seems to be enough park hours no matter how many days I'm there so EMH's are always a special treat lol

MissMinnie, we'll be there the same week you will. I had the October 22 MK EEMH in my park-hopping schedule and was surprised when I went back to double-check park hours and discovered they aren't on the calendar anymore. I don't know why they got cancelled - and I hope they reschedule them for some other evening that week. But if they don't, they don't; we'll find other ways to entertain ourselves.

I think I'd spend that time with my eyes shut in a bed Smile I always go to the EMH park of the day and spend every minute there., so get little sleep on most nights

I would consider this a cut back:

Splash Mountain will no longer be open during Evening Extra Magic Hours. The Enchanted Tiki Room has been added and Country Bear Jamboree will be added once it reopens in October.

What?! That's so disappointing! I was really looking forward to riding Splash Mountain late at night. Do you know if that is effective immediately?

Totally bummed about Splash Mountain. I hope it will still be open during the MNSSHP!

I read that this went into effect Sunday 8-26.

EEMH are back on the calendar for MK on Monday, October 22! clapping And now they'll be open till 1:00 a.m.!

(This is according to the Unofficial Guide website, so it might not be on the WDW site's calendar yet.)

Which MNSSHP are you going to? The hubby and I are going on Sunday 21st.

Good to hear! I was so disappointed about them taking it off EMH but now I can ride it during MNSSHP!
