Extravagant Disney Purchases

I'm always finding myself conflicted over whether I should splurge or save at Disney. It's vacation, after all, so I should splurge a little bit; but the less I splurge, the more vacations I can potentially take!

Anything you've hemmed and hawed over buying? Maybe a certain souvenir, tour, experience, or more expensive hotel room? What'd you decide?

We always agonize over where to stay. We enjoy staying in deluxes, but you can get such good rates on values. It makes it really hard. That is always our biggest price decision.

Hotel is tough for us as well. We want to stay deluxe, but know it's better for our pocketbooks to stay value or moderate (and, yes, we get more trips out of it).

Definitely have been hemming and hawing over a fireworks cruise or V&A meal!

Last time I was there, our splurge was on food. We decided not to work about prices and eat where we wanted when we wanted. I usually have one splurge a trip. To me it is "plus-ing" my disney experience. biggrin

We tend to do that as well. The problem is...we've developed a taste for signature dining... I think next trip will have to be counter-service focused!

laugh if I could afford to go AND get time off work and school at the same time, I would have to make it a counter-service trip as well. Which would be sad, because I love all of the table service I have had.

We kind of do the same. Sometimes it's a "food trip" where we don't worry about the food prices, sometimes we pick "resort trips" where we stay somewhere we've always wanted to stay. That's one nice thing about ADRs, you can make your selections why you're still far from the parks and have your willpower intact.

We have the slippery slope problem, where we start with a reasonably priced vacation and add 'one more thing' over and over until it's colossal.

My husband is always pushing me to buy something semi extravagant (jewelry, purse) but I always hesitate. I feel like we will need the money on something else there!

I don't really do anything extravagant. For us it's expensive just to go. Last time we did a dinner show and some special dining because we had gotten a $500 gift card offer and that was great. We are planning a splurge trip before we have kids. I want to stay in AKL so badly!

AKL is awesome! I fully endorse it!

Our expensive stuff is usually pins. I think the most expensive thing I got there was when I was a kid... I got a Donald Watch that his arms did the minutes and hours.

I figure if I'm flying cross country, I'm gonna have a good time!
so Where I stay and where I eat are my splurges. Any of the "stuff" I can get either online or through their phone ordering. Also, as a CM, I'm surrounded by Disney "stuff" 40 hours a week so.. unless it's really unique it doesnt appeal to me!
