I was really sad and shocked to read today that the Steve Seifert, best known to his followers as "The Tikiman" will be shutting down his web site, www.tikimanpages.com, one of the most popular Polynesian Resort web sites ever. The following is his message from his farewell page on the site.
Aloha
I started this site as just a collection of photos in 1999 and throughout the years I have met so many great people on line and in person. I have friendships that will last forever and memories to go with them. All of us who have contributed to this site made it what it is but just like the resort itself, things must change and get better to get people to return. I know the visits to my site and my Facebook have gone up 200% since all this construction news and mention of my site in the Orlando news article. Eventually things will calm down and there will need to be more to get people to visit my site than finding the latest construction news.
Things on the site are getting outdated and it has been a struggle to make sure all the info is up to date. We see the Polynesian going through a lot of changes and it has been a full time job keeping up with all the changes. If it were not for the help I get from guests at the resort and staff at many different parts of Disney I think I would have given this up a long time ago. When Mathew Turk came along and helped me create a new web site back in 2009 he brought new life to my web site. That made me excited again to make a place that people could come to for up to date information or to just to daydream about the Polynesian resort. Well by the end of this month this site will say Aloha.
I will try and keep doing updates on my Facebook site but for the next few weeks I may not be getting to my emails.
Thank you for visiting, contributing and being part of the Polynesian Village 'ohana.
You all know myself and scrappy are big lovers of the Polynesian Resort and I for one will miss this web site very much. A lot of changes are happening at the Poly and there are a lot of mixed emotions about it all. DVC coming, major changes to the Grand Ceremonial house, the water falls being taken out. 215 less rooms for the regular resort. Just feels like a little bit of the Poly is dieing. I have a feeling, on Oct 23 the Tiki Gods may be crying. Farewell Tikiman!
