Sorry if this has been asked already, I am going to Disney in December and when I logged onto the Disney website today it gave me the option to pick my Fast Passes does this mean it will give me the option of also customizing my magic bands as I get closer or are the two not mutually exclusive? Thanks so much really enjoy this forum and the camaraderie everyone shares 
Hmmm....I got both options at the same time, so I'm not sure. Although we are staying in a resort that is testing them and going during the testing period. I think they were going to be available to everyone after that, so maybe since your not going to December, they just haven't rolled it out yet. Someone will come along that knows.
I was prompted to make my fastpass+/customize bands selections before I was informed that we were going to be a part of the test group. I called Disney about it, and they said that if it's giving me the options, then I'll probably get the bands. All of the magic+ stuff showed up on the website for us (seems like weeks) before we got the letter about the test group/bands. 
We are leaving Nov 30th....and I was prompted at the same time.

Most resorts will have magicbands by then. If your resort already has the bands, then you will get the option to get them if you want. You don't have to be testing them to be eligible to get them. Once a resort goes live with the bands, everyone will have the option for them.

The bands seem to be working out great for us. No issues what so ever. We got a third set of bands when we checked into the resort (Poly) and all are active, we can switch out with whatever color we want to.
