Favorite Disney documentaries

We are watching The Boys: The Sherman Brothers Story and it got me thinking about all the Disney documentaries that there are that we may have missed.

What are your favorites?

I like the Parks specials, they are always fun to watch, but I don't think they are the best. I am really enjoying the one we are watching (it is on Netflix Watch Instantly if anyone is interested).

I'd love to see a list of some. I haven't seen that many, but mainly because I don't know which ones are out there.

I am loving the ones on Netflix as well. Of course I would watch a documentary called "cheeses of walt Disney world" as long as it had something to do with Disney.

It would totally have to be hosted by Remy!

I'd love to see more documentaries about the back stage at WDW or it's history. We get very little of that in the UK, there seems to be a few on youtube though Smile

We JUST got Netflix! (I know, I know...) so, I should just search on instant view to find some of these things? I haven't seen Waking Sleeping Beauty.

Just look up some Disney stuff - you can start with Disney Park stuff that is on Watch Instantly as is the Sherman Brothers documentary.

Waking Sleeping Beauty isn't on instant, but as long as you get a disc you ca get it!

I haven't figured out why EVERYTHING isn't on instant. I'm sure it has something to do with movie companies making more money.

I know right? I really expected more classics to be on instant watch. Maybe demand doesn't justify storage space? I dunno. I don't have any idea how it all works. To me, it all just falls under the heading of "magic."

I am sure of it. I understand it really, I just don't get why the classics aren't on. But as I say that I think how I could buy Casablance for $12 on DVD...bet they make more off of that than having it up for streaming!

Even more though, every TV show that is still running new episodes should have Season 1 up on instant streaming. Get someone hooked on Season 1 and they will watcvh the rest to catch up. It seems like great marketing!

TV shows are what I'd most like them to have on instant ASAP.

For me, the great thing about instant is variety -- if I want a movie, it's there. If I want TV, it's there. Any genre, any time -- I'm not limited to choosing something I put on a list at the minimum two days ago.

The wider the selection, the better.

I heard that it has to do with the studios that make the movie. A few studios gave Netflix access to EVERYTHING to put on Instant as long as they held off on New Releases for 1 months (in the mail & on instant) that's why some things aren't available on Netflix right away.

We just finished Waking Sleeping Beauty it was really good, but also had some really sad parts.

If you haven't seen it, you really should!

It's the history of Disney from the mid 1980s (Great Mouse Detective) to 1994 and The Lion King.

I've just watched a great programme made by the BBC celebrating 25 years of Pixar with their 25 greatest film moments and featuring interviews with key people and actors who have voiced Pixar characters.

I now know the importance of "A113" and will never forget Andy's mothers car registration number.

John Ratzenberger has has at least one line in every Pixar movie and is refered to as "Pixar's good luck charm".

There are many other nuggets given away during the programme. Not sure if it will be shown in the USA or if it's on youtube, but it's worth the hour to watch if you get the chance.

Tony, I'm not sure if I watched the same one as you, but I watched a Pixar documentary just recently too. It was more of a behind-the-scenes history, but it was really interesting. I had forgotten how close Disney and Pixar had come to a "divorce."

That sounds like a different one. Will have to watch out for it.
