finally signed up yesterday

I enjoy this sites FB page and lurk from time to time. Finally decided to sign in because everyone seems so nice in their posts. Like all of you we love Disney and I spend far too much time on various forums/sites. We have been fortunate to go about 2x a year with lots of stays at POR until we bought into DVC at AKL. We love AKL and have also tried out SSR, BLT and WL. Our next trip will include a stay at the BWV. Our wedding was at Disney and I have been fortunate to make some life long friendships with other Disney brides. Disney people are just the best and I am anxious to spend more time around here Smile

welcome I have found this to be one of the friendliest, most supportive places on the web, and we all love Disney a ton, so you've come to the right place!! So cool that you were a Disney bride--have any pictures? I'm not able to get married at Disney myself, but I'm having a Disney-themed wedding! And you should tell us more about your Disney favorites: what's your favorite park? Ride? When's your next trip? (As you can tell, I love hearing about other people's Disney adventures so I can live vicariously!) Glad to have you aboard!!

Thanks everyone. Favorite food-anything sweet Smile Chocolate peanut butter cupcakes at HS, chocolate peanut butter cake at Boardwalk Bakery, chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, pecan sticky buns & bacon at Trail's End, Snore's cupcake & quinoa wrap at WL...think I should stop now. Disney is about the food for me. Our next trip (in several weeks) will be different because I am hoping to eat healthier. I have done it before but my sweet tooth gets me. Favorite ride-Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Soaring. Can't pick just one but nothing to fast or scary. I am so looking forward to this friendly community.

Disney Amyy, Welcome!

Twice a year?? That is FAB!!

I'm with ya on the nothing too fast or scary AND all the chocolate yum-ness that you mentioned!

Do you usually use the Dining Plan when you go? Are you this time, with your healthy eating strategy now in full-swing, or do you feel that would be an unnecessary cost??

Looking forward to chatting more with you!

Thanks RobynPrincess

Nancy D-We are doing TIW this trip. In the past we usually do the Dining Plan but it seems TIW has been the better deal for us lately. It worked out well on our last one. Right now I am doing this 13 day detox from sugar, gluten, dairy etc. There are a group of us doing and it hasn't been that bad. Hoping to only have like one treat a day at Disney instead of with every meal and as a few snacks a day Smile This year we will only have one trip and I think next year too. For different reasons we had been lucky with two. Plus my mother-in-law lives in Vero Beach so that is also an excuse to get to Florida. Thanks for the welcome.

That sounds awesome! Always great to have friends and family in Florida!! Smile

Do you have a website recommendation where I could read more about the sugar/gluten detox?? That doesn't sound like such a bad idea for this sugar/gluten junkie!! Smile

Thanks for the welcome.

Nancy-the detox was through my naturopath's office. The protein shake was from Thorne Pharmaceuticals. My doctor put together menus and recipes for 13 days. We could adapt but it was nice to have the reference. I am now trying to stick to it 90% of the time but anxious to see how I do on our upcoming trip. A day is something like this.
breakfast-chocolate protein shake with almond milk, 1 or 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 cup raspberries, 1/2 bannana
morning snack-Lara bar or piece of fruit with almonds
lunch-something like ginger chicken with vegetables, black bean salad etc
afternoon snack-1/2 cup trail mix (different nuts, shredded unsweetened coconut and cacao nibs coated with coconut oil and baked for about 10 minutes, add is some dried cranberries)
supper-something like lunch maybe ground turkey cooked with garlic, red peppers, tomatoes etc; Not casseroles with sour cream or pasta dishes like lasagna that I use to have
snack-homemade hot cocoa (2 T cocoa, 1 cup almond milk, 1 T maple syrup, 1 or 2 teaspoons cinnamon-just bring to a boil)

I've been to WDW 3 times, and I'll headed back in Oct/Nov for my 4th trip. Cannot wait! I am thoroughly enjoying everyone's insight and opinions. WDW is so big it's good to be armed with a gameplan.
