Wow! I hadn't heard about that. Pretty soon your finger will be your "key to the world." We'll use our fingerprint to pay for things, open hotel doors, etc.

I think there are a lot of privacy advocates who won't like that at all. I'm honestly surprised they put up with the scan at the entrance. I guess maybe they just go somewhere else.

I have a friend (an old submarine vet friend) who was a food service manager at a luxury resort in WDW. He told me that with the purchase of the official mug a guest would have to refill it over 2oo times before the resort would experience any loss and that would be less than 1 cent per drink. There are incredible profits made in the sale of Disney resort mugs. When we bought our first mugs around 1991 we were told they were refillable any time we stayed at that resort. At that time the mugs were personalized to the resort. We have at least 2 mugs from every resort.

Good insight Joe, thank you! I'm always interested to learn the details behind things.

I think the mugs were a lot more fun when they were resort specific. More collectible back then.

I miss those too..we liked collecting them from the resorts we stayed at..now they are all just the same. Oh well.

I never really thought about how much soda one would actually have to consume before they would actually loose money.

It's nice to see a board have a good old fashion mug debate without getting rowdy. clapping

I'm sure a lot of those places are perfectly fine with you coming back to refill your mug. It costs them about 2 cents and there's a decent chance you'll decide to buy something else while you're there. Most businesses would be very happy to pay 2 cents get someone to walk through their store.
