Flash photography on rides

This is my biggest pet peeve at Disney. While we were on the POTC yesterday the family in front of us (4 adults, 2 kids) were taking pictures every 5 seconds. They completely ruined the ride for us. Apparently they ignored the multiple directions from the CM's for NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. Add to the fact that he had the "no red eye reduction" feature on it was like a strobe light during the ride. Sorry for the rant, but I was really annoyed. mad

I totally agree, POTC was ruined for us too, we were the only row in the boat that was not taking pics w flash! My husband was so mad and totally obnoxious, saying things very loud so they could hear, so I was upset with him too! Like it would do any good, if they heard him they ignored him anyway. I am non confrontational, obviously he is not! People just don't think the rules are for them and it's infuriating! We see that all too much at Disney, just because there are so many people. Not sure I could work there and deal with all that, and I AM a people person!

Julie tell your husband I am on his side totally and without a doubt. When someone irks me that way, they HEAR me not just overhear me. I had a tour group TRY and get in front of us during Illuminations and beleive me I was not the one who moved.

There are some rides where I can understand this... but Pirates is one ride that usually never has a line. For me the flash photography only bugs me when its in my face. If its in a different car and up ahead or behind... It doesnt matter to me. I know its there vacation as well, and they should be able to experience it in a way that makes it fun. So at least with Pirates... since the lines are short stuff like that doesnt bug me. Ill just ride it another 20 times over the course of the week and be happy... lol.

But dont get me wrong... I totally understand why people get mad about it. If it was something that you could only do once and people are flashing away... understandable. But at least for me... on rides... im fine with it.

I will admit I was one of those people on it's a small world last year. I don't remember seeing any posted signs but read afterwards that it wasn't permitted (oops). I was so excited about being there I never even gave it a thought, I just snapped away.

This is one thing that REALLY upsets me when in Disneyland or DCA. We had people in Pirates taking pictures and turned around to take something they missed... flashed right into our faces, we couldn't see the whole rest of the ride.
On the Haunted Mansion is another one that I can't stand..

To me... HM is a no no because the dark is used to hide the effects on the ride. With all of the mirrors and such... that one would ruin it. But for the ones that don't really use special effects I'm indifferent about.

If it tells me no
I don't do it because there is always a reason.
For some reason people think that rules never really quite apply.

I'd rather not piss someone off, to take a flash pic. Grab one from the internet

I guess that's the core of the matter, it's against the rules, and they have the rules for a reason. I follow the rules even if I don't see the point. I can't stand people who don't think the rules apply to them. We had flash going off every 5 seconds all around us for the whole ride, and the cms reminded them twice as we got in the boat (they were driving us crazy through the whole line taking flash pics of EVERYTHING) It was really annoying in the long dark line, and it wasn't just one party, it was many. Guess we were just there at the wrong time. I am usually not a complainer and am really easy going, but this is an problem for me! To me the issue is lack of consideration and respect, which is going away more and more everyday! This was inconsiderate to us and others, and disrespectful to not follow Disney's rules.

Now I'll get off my soap box. Thanks for listening, boy do I sound OLD!!

At one point he did turn around to take a picture, at that point I had enough and he got a picture of my hand. The wife didn't want me to make a scene so I didn't say much after that. I am with Vettelover though, I wanted to say alot more than I did.

Totally annoying. We once were on PoTC and someone towards the front of the ship took a flash. The gentleman behind him politely reminded him of the no flash rule, and he said something to the effect hat it was his Disney vacation and he paid a fortune and was going to get this money's worth.

Nice....kinda forgetting that everyone else paid a fortune too not to have it ruined but some selfish schmuck.
