To Flip Flop? Or not to Flip Flop?

I'm a big fan of Sketchers sneakers (especially the bikers dream line). They were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn at Disney. No blisters and great support. Flip Flops do not have enough arch support for me when walking that much.

I alternated between flip flops (from Old Navy) and tennis shoes. i rather hate wearing shoes so even on a normal day i wear the least constrictive shoe possible. But my awesome hubby also made sure to give me foot rubs to help with some of the foot pain. I didn't see much of a difference for me between the two different types of shoes on a pain level.

In the parks, I've always worn good-quality walking/running shoes that I can go miles in without any problem. This is especially important for me now, though, because I developed a mild case of plantar fasciitis in my right foot about a year ago, and without good support my feet would crap out on me long before a week of park-hopping was over.

Trying to find a decent pair of flip flops in January in Northern Illinois... Not proving to be easy. My favorite pair broke last month and I have to replace them before I leave in 23 days! I may have a nervous breakdown wink

Do you have a Payless Shoe Store near you? I found my flip flops there in January three years ago before my trip to Hawaii.

Hey travel buddy! I think we could also wait until we get there to find you a pair of flip flops. Better selection for sure!

Oooh .. . The Reef brand flip flop has a bottle opener in the sole. It make the arches pretty stiff and supportive.
Seriously- a bottle opener. I wouldn't wear them to the parks, but around the pool or the beach . . . Bucket of beer and a bowl of limes . . . Ahhh!

i can't wear flip flops, bad back, foot pain, and can't stand the thong between my toes. i aslo have a very difficult time getting shoes to fit post baby. i wore my New balance sneakers most of the time in the park, for one half day i wore my new Keen Sandals, wich fit great, but I only got them a few weeks before the trip so they were not properly broken in. Big mistake, i could hardly stand after a couple of hours. they are ok now, but not ready to wear for hours yet.
If i could still get them, i would likley swear by the old teva's. the once from around 93-95. i lived in those in high school, even in winter, complete with grey wool socks.

Olukai flip flops are the best I've ever worn. I used to work at a running store and we sold them there.

I wore them on my Disneymoon every day to the parks. My feet hurt no more than they did any other time I was there. My other park option is Birkinstocks. I can't go wrong either way.

On days I know I'll want to wear sneakers, I bring my Nike Frees. Lightweight, bendable, and they're bright pink! Haha

But mainly I wear the Olukais. After I bought mine, my husband (who hated flip flops) bought a pair, and then my mom also did. They have arch support in them. I have the model named Ohana, which is also appropriate for Disney!

JoAnn - I was able to pick up one pair at Payless, but they haven't turned out to be very comfortable to walk in.

Becks - Flip Flop Shopping sounds great! I've been looking at the Mickey Mouse Fit Flops for a couple of vacations now and just haven't bought them yet.

I think you probably have time to grab a pair online, too! If you order right away. But trust me, you'll have no problem finding them here...we wear them just about year 'round Smile

My best advice is to bring MULTIPLE pairs of shoes that you would wear for walking every day. Our last trip we used a pedometer and figured that we walked 8-10 miles per day. No matter what, at the end of a day like that, no matter what I would be wearing on my feet - they would hurt. So it was nice to mix it up every day. I had three different shoes in rotation, which is also helpful to match with the weather.
I had tennis shoes - which is great for cooler days and parks with LOTS of walking ie: EPCOT.
A pair of BORN sandals - nice cushion and kept my feet cooler on warmer days.
Croc Sandals - light weight which is nice and plastic which is great for wet/rainy days. They don't really get wet, so no need to walk around in squishy wet shoes!

I think no matter what shoes you wear, when you are walking that much your feet get sore!

Flip flops at AK and DHS
tennis shoes or sketchers at MK and Epcot.

My sketchers I call them duck shoes because they are like water shoes or more rugged. I love them and they are great for walking around Disney.

I can't stand real shoes. I hate to wear socks or anything else that completely covers my feet. I have some croc flip flops that are suuuper comfy and also some croc ballet/flats that are awesome. I'll wear one pair in the morning and then when we go back for the evening i'll switch to the other pair. Wearing the different shoes uses different muscles in different ways, so your feet do not get as sore.

Croc really does make some comfy, cute shoes. I don't like or wear the classic clog kind.

I have to say, I got a pair of mephisto sandals for our last trip! They were AMAZINGLY comfortable.. I even tried to wear tennis shoes one day, and they were much more uncomfortable than my sandals!

Flip flops hurt my feet. :c

For walking all day I really like the sandals made by Earth Shoes. They're cute and REALLY comfortable. You can get them at places like Walmart and Kohls so they're not that expensive or hard to find. They last FOREVER too. clapping
