This forum and the people in it are AWESOME!

I just wanted to say how glad I am that I found this forum. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, willing to share, and just down right all around nice! It warms my heart to find so many "grown ups" who love the magic of Disney. Our trip is now 43 days away, and with all of the tips and feedback I've received from this group, I know it is going to be our best trip ever! Thank you! yay

Happy to have you here!! I'm glad we were able to help you not just prepare for your trip, but build up your excitement even more! Have you posted the details of your trip? Where are you staying/what are you most excited to do?

Hi arbolita! Thanks for your post. I can't believe how helpful this place has been. This will be my 8th trip to WDW and I thought I knew a lot about the parks, but then I met all of you and found out there was a lot I didn't know too. Its been great. Here's my intinerary:

Sun, Oct 16th - Hop the Auto Train to Orlando (my husband doesn't like to fly)
Mon, Oct17th - Disembark train and head straight to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (I'm a huge HP fan)
- Check into the Contemporary in the afternoon (I've always wanted to stay at this resort and this will
be the 1st time)
- Dinner at the Kona Cafe
- Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom
Tues, Oct 18th - Monorail to EPCOT for Food and Wine Festival
- Dinner at the Coral Reef
Wed, Oct 19th - Monorail to EPCOT for more Food and Wine Festival
- Dinner at Restaurant Marrakesh (meeting up with some friends that will be down there)
Thurs, Oct 20th - Walk to Magic Kingdom
- Dinner at California Grill
Fri, Oct 21st - Check out of Contemporary sad
- head to DTD for lunch at Wolfgang Pucks and shopping
- Hop the Auto train home
We're focusing most of this trip on EPCOT and the MK. We did all of the parks when we were down in March 2009 for our honeymoon, and this trip, we're planning on slowing things down just a bit. We'll see how that goes.

This place is amazing. Ive learned so much from here and things I have either missed and/or need to try. The coolest thing ive learned has been the snack credits for the DDP. Never knew we could use the credits in the parks. Now it seems like a "Well... duh" moment... but my wife is excited to use the credits on some cupcakes... lol

Glad to hear you like it here! We try our best to be some of the friendliest people around. I think a big point is that most of us deep down inside really believe in the "Magic" of Disney. You have to to be a true Disney lover, regardless of what they change, or how much they charge, or prices get raised. All of the members of this forum are simply amazing.

Kris, we're so glad to have you here! This is such a sweet little community - encouraging, nice, supportive. I think our members truly care about one another. So, you're taking the auto train, huh? That comes right to my town of Sanford! Do you know...I've never been over to the train station. How sad is that?? Too bad you don't have a minute to look around...it's a cute little place.

Can't wait to hear all about your experiences. I'm getting so excited for fall at WDW!

Great itinerary. The Food & Wine festival is awesome. Are you attending any of the special events during the festival?

Hi Jess. We live about 45 minutes North of Philadephia so we have to drive 4 hours to Lorton, VA to catch the auto train. We did this for our honeymoon and it was great! We board the train (with our car) at 2:00 PM on Sunday. At 4:00 PM the train leaves the station and they host a wine and cheese party in the dining car. We purchased a sleeper room, so in the daytime our room has two seats that face each other and then when we head to the dining car for dinner the cabin steward turns those seats into bunkbeds for the night. So after dinner, we climb into bed (we usually get the later dining car seating) and we wake up as we're pulling into Sanford, FL (about 45 minutes North of Orlando) at around 8:30 AM on Monday. It really is a nice way to travel if you or someone in your party (i.e. my husband) doesn't like to fly. The food in the dining car is amazing too. Last time we had steak, baked potato, veggies, and the most amazing warm turtle brownie with vanilla ice cream. I hope they have that dessert again this time. The whole trip by train takes about 16 hours or so. Not too bad considering you're sleeping through most of it.

Welcome!

Here's a food and wine tip - if you have the dining plan, you can use your snack credits for the food at the kiosks.

Thanks JoAnn, that's a great tip! More than anything I am so excited to spend more time there this trip. 2 years ago when I was there for Food and Wine, I really kind of breezed through it which was a big mistake.

We took the auto train down here when we moved from PA in 1998! The kids were 2 and 4 and we didn't want to drive 2 cars, so we packed them full and loaded them both on the train. The ride wasn't too bad, and it was a good solution to get us all down here together with the 2 cars.
