FP + Question..

Another question from yours truly..As I come to terms with this latest technology. I read that you can only book one FP headliner per day..( example..Either Soarin' or Test Track )..How do I find out what attractions are headliners...I'd guess at HS it will be ToT.....RnR Coaster..and Toy Story...But is there a way of checking...?.. confused

Wow what a great question and unfortunately I have no idea. My thought would be when you go to do your FP on My Disney Experience it will not let you pick 2 headliners (as you called them).
I will be enterested to see if anyone can list all the "headliners".

I believe "headliners" or first tier attractions at Hollywood Studios are Toy Story Midway Mania, Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Fantasmic and the Beauty and the Beast live show. Tower of Terror is actually in the second tier! So you can do Tower of Terror AND Toy Story OR Rock'n'Roller Coaster.

I think Epcot also has the tiered attractions, and I believe the first tier (which you can only choose one of) is Test Track, Soarin', Maelstrom (to me this is more second tier, but whatever), Character Spot, and IllumiNations.

When I go in September, I already know I'll be spending multiple days at each park except for maybe Animal Kingdom - so my plan is say, my first day at Hollywood Studios I do TSMM as a FP+ (along with Tower of Terror and probably Star Tours), and try to do RNRC standby - but if I don't, it's ok, because I can do RNRC as my first tier FP+ attraction the next day I go to HS!

Cheers for that..But what source are you getting these tiers from.?...I never knew that Fantasmic and Beauty were FP..I can see me phoning the nice lady on Disney site about this..LOL..

I think almost all rides/shows/parades are now FP+ eligible, even if they didn't use Legacy Fastpasses. For a while with Fantasmic it included specialty FP+ seating, but now it merely guarantees you a seat - even if it's a terrible one.

Sources: http://www.easywdw.com/news/hollywood-studios-moves-to-tiered-fastpass-selections-beginning-november-17th/ and http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/mymagicplus/news/14nov2013-disney's-hollywood-studios-testing-restrictions-on-fastpass-selections.htm (if you search "fastpass+ tiers hollywood studios" everything discussing it lists the exact same tiers, leading me to believe the information is accurate mickey ).

At Epcot you can choose one from Illuminations, Soarin, Test Track or Maelstrom then choose from Captain EO, Mission Space and not sure what else.

At Studios you can choose one from Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast live on Stage, Toy Story and Rock n Roller Coaster then choose from Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Lights Motors Action and Muppet Vision.

DAK and MK don't have the tiers.

Gonna have to get a list of these tiers..Tier 1 or Tier 2..

King Fergus

Ok..I've managed to track down these Tier 1 and Tier 2 attractions...At this time available for Epcot and HS..You probably already know that, but this is all new to me...So on Epcot I noticed that under a T1 " Illuminations " is on it..Does that mean you get priority viewing..When I phoned to make ADRS in 2012 ( the system was down on my 180 day ) The nice lady asked if I would love priority viewing for Illuminations and Wishes..Our seats at Epcot were on the right hand side of Rose & Crown and at MK just to the left of dessert party...Just wondering why the fireworks at Epcot has a T1 rating.?

King, I agree that the tier system is EPCOT is kind of wacky, but I think it comes from EPCOT having limited options that actually involve having a queue area. In the entirety of the World Showcase, Grand Fiesta (waste of FP), Maelstrom, and IllumiNations are the only attractions that queue at all. Even in Future World, there are only about 4 attractions that I would ever bother to FP - Soaring, Test Track, Character Spot, and Spaceship Earth. Mission Space, Nemo, and Journey into Imagination are such short wait times that you can easily plan to hit them at non-peak times and practically walk-on most days. So that leaves only 6 "good" FP options versus a park like MK where there are about 13 "good" uses of FP. I think a better way of doing the tiers might be to put Soarin' and Test Track in the top tier and then have a second tier that is "pick one" and put IllumiNations, Character Spot, and maybe Spaceship Earth or Maelstrom in this tier. Then put everything else in the third tier.

We were lucky enough to hit that very narrow window where we could book Soarin, Test Track, and IllumiNations on the same day. I really liked the IllumiNations viewing area. It wasn't very crowded and it was a really nice view. There was someone on the boards--I don't remember who it was now--who didn't care for this view and prefers other spots around the World Showcase, so that's a matter of taste. The nice thing about it was that we didn't have to stake out a spot an hour ahead of time. We walked up at around 8:45 and we got a nice spot. One thing that I hope they are working to fix is that it was difficult to find the right place to check-in. "Between the Tower gift shops" is deceptively vague in the dark when the priority viewing for the Candlelight Processional package is adjacent (but not connected) to the FP area. Pair that information with the new design phase on Test Track. In the regular queue, two people design their car together, but in the single rider lane, each person can design their own car. I would consider booking it to Soarin' and riding stand-by first thing in the morning, riding Test Track single rider, and getting a FP for IllumiNations. Or I might just book it to Soarin and ride standby and then have a FP for later in the day and go again...At the very minimum, I wouldn't be devastated if Test Track and Soarin were both booked solid and I got "stuck" with IllumiNations.

I'm sure another thing that Disney is trying to manage is the need to keep some "good" fast passes available for day guests without having priority FP booking turn into trying to get an ADR for Cinderella's Royal Table. If they didn't have a tier system at a park like EPCOT, Soarin and Test Track would probably be booked solid within 5 minutes of the booking window opening up for resort guests. At least now, hopefully it will take 10 minutes wink

We're also going in October, and to be honest I am completely confused by it all at the moment. We are offsite for the first part of our trip and only staying onsite the last 4nts/5days that our park tickets will be valid. I think we can do FP+ for our onsite days at 180 days in advance, but when can we do it for our offsite days?

Last night I created MDE logins for DH and I and linked them, but it won't let me link our Beach Club reservation to them. We haven't bought our tickets or Memory Maker yet, so can't link them. Also not sure if we will be able to link our MNSSHP+MCMCP tickets when we buy them? We can start doing dining reservations at the end of April so will link them in then.

Am not sure when it will let us pick Magic Bands, is that when we have the resort stay linked into MDE? Though I am guessing we will just use our tickets at the start of the trip while offsite and switch to Magic Bands when we check in to the Beach Club?

I am very organised with everything else, but have been putting this off because it confuses me!

It's starting to make sense after much research into it...We have ordered and customised our wrist bands which will be waiting at the concierge of our resort on arrival..( all going well ) Like yourself's in middle of April we will make our ADRS ( phoning the UK 0800 as I want to ask about priority fireworks viewing ) and then in the middle of August ( 60 days ) make our Tier 1 and Tier 2 FP depending on park hours which I'll have a note of before hand..As I said to my DW...It's a Doddle darling..LOL.. confused confused

When you are staying offsite, you have to wait until day off to make your fastpass selections at the park.

Is Jedi training at DHS a FP+ attraction now? Or do you just sprint into the park and join the queue to sign up for it like before? We have never done it but it's on our must do list for this trip (though I need to check the age restrictions for this too).

Nope not a fastpass+ option. You have to get there at park opening to sign up your child.

Don't try to link your MNSSHC or MVMCP tickers to any thing yet. They had been having problems with them and they were messing up the bands.
