Fun facts about Frontier Land

The waterway between Liberty Square and Frontier Land is supposed to be symbolic of the Mississippi river and is supposed to symbolize the division of the east and the west.

There used to be real rifles with lead pellets at the shooting range

You are moving up in time and you move through frontier land

There is a chinese laundry sign in Frontier land....It's there because chinese laundries started in San Francisco back in that time period

Before Splash Mountain was there it was just the train station

There was originally going to be a dark ride called Thunder Mesa and the river expedition but it had to be put on hold to build pirates of the carribean

Splash Mountain was going to originally be called Zippity River Run but they changed it to Splash Mountain since the movie Splash was really popular at the time

Golden Oak Outpost was originally named after a ranch that disney filmed shows at in the 60's. The original Golden Oak Outpost was just a McDonalds fry cart

The Animal on the roof of the tiki room is meant to look like a longhorn from frontier land and a water buffalo from adventure land

Anyone know any other fun frontier land facts?

Great facts. The Chinese Laundry sign is one I've never seen or heard. I'll add what I've got.

- Frontier land is set in 1790-1880

- The addresses on the buildings roughly indicate the year the building is set. In Liberty Square, this also is a thing.. So the Hall of Presidents is 1787 while Town Hall of Frontier land and 1867.

- Frontierland, set in the West, is actually in the Western Part of Magic Kingdom.

- Country Bear Jamboree was the first attraction that appeared in both DL and WDW to make its debut in FL.

- "Big Al" is a caricature of WDW show writer Al Bertino, a lead writer for MK.

- The drop on Splash Mountain gets you to 40 mph, faster than than Space Mountain.

- DL and WDW Thunder Mountains use different rock work references. DL is based on Bryce Canyon in Utah, which us saturates, heavily erodes, and magenta in color. WDW is based on Monument Valley in Utah, more angular and more earthy tones than Bryce. This is because DL's TM lies on east side of Rivers of America, rather than west, which means it's visible from Fantasyland in DL, and the mountain can be used as a "candy back drop" for Fantasyland.

I don't have any more facts, but I did decided to take a picture of the "Mississippi" while I was there in June.

We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour two years ago. When we arrived in Frontier Land, our guide pointed to the ground. There is a grey wavy concrete pattern throughout the land. That is to also symbolize the Mississippi river in that land as well.

Next time you are there, look down and you will see what I am referring to. It almost looks out of place as it is not the typical reddish colour you see throughout the rest of MK and the other parks.

And at Country Bear there are bear marks on the ground!! Don't even look up, just stare at the ground the whole time you're in Frontierland... laugh

Country Bear Jamboree is one of the original attractions that opened with MK. I have other facts but they aren't related to Frontierland.
