FL resident passes are da bomb (and boy did we make.the right decision to renew last.momnth!! Woke up to a $30 price increase this morning for the weekday select! Between that and the 15% renewal.discount we just saved $75 per AP)
The passes and access allow you to experience alot more throughout the year, including special release merchadise, special events, VIPassholder events, etc. that are harder to get to it you have to travel to be there.
Having WDW in the backyard - imagine the possibilities! Visits are much more relaxing because we know we can come back anytime.
I'm lucky in that Joe is very flexible and accommodating and easy going. But I purposefully chose not-Orlando so it wasn't "we're moving to Florida JUST for Disney". I sometimes worry about getting tired of it - not so much Disney but the crowds, people being rude and jerks (and drunks), the endless new ways to make it more special for people with money to afford all the "extra" this and thats - so I wanted to not be stuck in Orlando if that ever happened. Close enough to go often to satisfy me but far enough away so it's not in our/Joe's face. It's a good balance for us.
It's been on my bucket list for a while to live in FL and be a Passholder and go alot. I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home full time, but I've always been asked to live near a major hub of my employer (which ruled out Florida). But in 2017 I got a manager that said she did not care at all where I lived, and that was the opening I needed to get to FL.
The financials made the most sense for Joe. So I honed in on that aspect more than the others.
