Good Cameras

I recently ordered a camera from Target and it came in today and I already hate it mad Its a Nikon Coolpix S6300. It looks really cheaply made and the pictures aren't WOWing me either. The whole thing is plastic and I just know the silver front will soon be black around all of the edges. I'm definitely going to be returning this one!! I had a Nikon Coolpix for years before this one and I loved it but of course all good things come to an end and it broke sad I was wondering if you guys had any good suggestions on cameras? I'm looking for something compact. Id also like to stay in the $200 range. I'm no perfessional so I just want a well made camera that will take clear pictures.

I guess it ultimately depends on what ya wanna do? My wife and I used Sony Cybershots and have loved them. She still uses hers. Ive upgraded to an SLR. So I don't need it anymore. There small... and they have a pretty good picture for the price.

Yes I have an Olympus, but its a more expensive one, I've always liked the Kodak cameras also, I have several of them.

Yea Verily, Mase. I purchased the Sony DSC-W690 just prior to my last trip for $180 at Walmart. I especially like the sweep panoramic feature.

Only gripe is the battery. It's got pretty good life, but it's proprietary so a second one is in the $40 range.

I think thats the biggest problem with the Cyber Shots. We don't have an issue anymore because I don't use my old one, so Jess has 2 batteries.

After a lot of research we ordered a Pentax WG-II on line. It takes fantastic pictures and is also an underwater camera. We used it on our trip to WDW this summer and at Typhoon Lagoon and Discovery Cove. It was about $275 and we love it!!!

I have loved every Canon I have ever owned from my older than me FTb manual SLR to my mid-line PowerShot (that my mom uses now) to my T2i DSLR. My boyfriend has a 7D DSLR that he really likes as well.

I used to have an old Nikon SLR but never loved it the same as my FTb. Their higher end stuff is really nice but their lower end stuff just isn't worth the prices you pay. I honestly considered the new J1 mirror-less camera until I tried it out. I was disappointed by the UI and the feel of the camera.

I do like the Olympus Tough Series if you are looking for a waterproof/shock proof camera. They make pretty decent stuff.

I got my daughter this one
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Stabilized-Wide-Angle-Recording/dp/B006UMM2AI/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343757651&sr=1-12&keywords=canon+point+and+shoot+cameras

So far she likes it. I have a SLR myself but my wife has a PS Sony dont remember the model #. Have always stuck with Canon or Sony and have been happy with both.

Best thing I can tell you is go and get some hands on at a best buy, staples, etc and see which has the features you like best and go with it.

We are a Sony Cybershot family all the way..
we have 2 and they get a big thumbs up awesome

Good photos, and all the rest...plus for the power and capabilities you can't beat the size of it either, IMHO.

After playing with the camera a little bit the pictures are actually pretty good. I'm still not happy with the cheap look tho. Thank you guys for the help. I'm gonna go to Best Buy soon and try to find all of the cameras you guys suggested and hopefully end up with my perfect camera!

my first recommendation
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon+-+PowerShot+G12+10.0-Megapixel+Digital+Camera+-+Black/1218396.p?id=1218237707721&skuId=1218396

my recommendation if you want to stay in your price range. I think if you put a little extra to the g12 you would be very very happy with it yes the Nikon guy is recommending canon cameras lol.
