I've never seen Captain EO but I think that is changing as Joe says he wants to see it again before it goes... Well, since he IS supporting my WDW habits, I guess I will go.
"I do not like the cone of shame."
"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell."
"It seems to me that we have a lot of story yet to tell."
Good bye, Captain EO, and good riddance!
I know I'm in the minority, but I like Captain EO and am sad to see it go

Good riddance. I'm still bitter it took this long to realize that EO needed to go. I sure hope the Ellen ride is the next to go. I mean, you could easily put two attractions in that space!
"All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day, not above them but part of them.
And out there living in the sun, give me one day out there, all I ask is one to hold forever. Out there where they all live unaware, what I'd give, what I'd dare, just to live one day out there."
I liked captain Eo but it is dated. A refresh will be good
Member of the 6 castle club and working to pay for my next Disney vacations: 1/5-10/18, September 2018 for my 50th and 2018 the year of Disney cruising.
Captain EO was great almost 30 years ago when 3D/4D tech was in its infancy. I loved it the first time round but when I saw it during the re-release a few years back, it came across as more hokey and cheesy. This was made all the more apparent by the group of giggling girls who scoffed and snorted their way through the movie and it's outdated effects.
Great back in the day, re-released presumably as a tribute to Michael Jackson but without a major update, it doesn't really have a place at Disney now, in my book...
However, if you've never seen it - see it once to tick that box...
Yes, that's me in the profile pic...kudos for guessing the movie...

Ditto. I love Captain EO and the nostalgia it represents. But I understand that I'm in the minority and that most don't enjoy it or that it may be becoming dated, so I'm not surprised to see it go. My only real lament is that I feel like just putting in Pixar shorts is a lost opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Pixar shorts. But I'm a little surprised and underwhelmed with using that large of a space for just a viewing of them. I think I could get over losing Captain EO better if I knew something really cool, new, or innovative were going in there. But just putting in Pixar shorts seems a little like a throw away to me.

Not sad about this one bit!!
Captain EO was a nostalgic hoot - once. After that, snore.
But instead of replacing it with something new, they're going to show reruns of Pixar shorts? Unless they're constantly changing which shorts they show, that'll be fun once or twice.
30 year old Captain EO gets replaced with 10 year old Pixar shorts. Meanwhile the 1st and 2nd floor of Imagination gets nothing. Can't wait for some actual EPCOT attractions.
It's a sad day when a performer like MJ, who loved children so very much and was a tremendous role model for them, has no place in a family oriented theme park.

Does anyone know if this is happening at Disneyland also or just Disney World?

LOL. Well, at least Bubbles is represented with all the monkeys at AK.
