Had to share this Facebook comment

The daughter of one my friends is in Florida with her friend. Yesterday my friend posted they were at Animal Kingdom. Today she commented on the status that "today they are in Disney". I used to work with this woman and haven't seen her in years. If we were closer friends I so would have made a smart alec comment but instead I bit my tongue and came straight over her to post this.

Oh dear. She probably thinks Disney is just the Magic Kingdom.

That's what I thought until I actually went to WDW. But I'm old enough to remember when WDW first opened - and back then, Magic Kingdom was all they had, so Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World meant the same thing.

I feel the same way! It makes me so mad when I hear people say "well Monday we're going to Epcot and Tuesday we're going to Disney World and Wednesday we're going to Animal Kingdom..." and I just wanna say "no. Tuesday you're going to Magic Kingdom. You'll be in Disney World every day."

my sister did the same thing when we were talking about our trip. She said "so what day did yall actually go to the disney park" I wanted to scream at her that MGM, Animal Kingdom, Epcot... they're all Disney! Oh and she tried to include Universal as a Disney park.. too funny!

Okay so, this sounds like y'all just let them keep thinking that. Doesn't anyone correct these poor people? I'm not sure that I could smile and nod through that. I would have to say something. It's like when people call Disney World, Disneyland, it just makes me lose my mind.

Just for the record, I do correct people who mix Disneyland and Disney World.

I do that with a guy a work that travels all over the world, but can't understand why as adults we would rather go to Disney World (or as he calls it Disney Lands) rather then someplace like Bangkok or China, or Italy, or South America. I correct him all the time and he says its the same thing. I say thats like calling China & Japan the same thing, then he gets mad saying "that different!" I tell him "So is Disney World & Disney Land!"

The people I work with know that we go and take the kids to Disney every year....but when I told them that me and hubby were going by ourselves for are 10 year anniversary they were like why. They just don't get it. But one of the girls I work with said she was going to go with us because she's been wanting to go but her 9 year old daughter has always refused to go since she was little because she is afraid of people dressed up in costumes. LOL

Oh my gosh, both my girls were afraid of the characters until they were about 3. I dragged my oldest to Disneyland every chance I got and always made her visit Mickey. I had moved back to Illinois by the time my younger daughter was born, so she didn't get tortured like that.

LoL! Obviously I'm a horrible abusive parent. Tell your friend that it's called "exposure therapy". LoL!

She may never get over it. One of my best friends, who worked at WDW with me, is terrified of them at 22!

Whenever I go to Disney at least one or two people ask me if I'm also planning on going to Epcot, AK, DHS, etc. And these are people who are around my age and had at least all of the parks except for maybe AK growing up.

Jan and I made about 56 trips to Disney. we went to the Magic Kingdom once in 1971 for opening weekend and once in 1990 when our grandson turned 4. We have never been to any of the other parks and I'm still not interested in doing so. Well---- maybe Epcot once before I die. Most of you will find this hard to understand but then most everybody found us hard to understand anyway.I will be going back in May for my 60th time.

Joe - I think it's awesome that you can enjoy WDW without going to the parks. Let me know if you'll be going in November, I'll be there 11/09 - 11/16.

Joe, I get it too. There is a lot to do outside of the parks. All that matters is that you have a magical time. Although I do think you should visit Epcot at least once! wink
