Thanks, Robyn, and happy 4th from me to all the other Americans.

I have a lovely four-day weekend that will include backyard barbecues, fireworks, hanging out with friends at our house, and seeing Despicable Me 2 and Man of Steel at the drive-in this weekend.

The kids and I are heading out for some fireworks viewing tonight. The show here in Rockford isn't too bad. It's community supported and the guy who organizes it has been topping himself every year for 50 years now. Last year I started crying because as I was watching and listening to the radio that the show was synchronized to the music from the American Adventure started playing. I know, I'm a dork at least it's a Disney Dork.

Thanks Robyn, we're on our way to WDW to celebrate!

This is the view from our apartment in San Francisco. The sun is just setting over the bay and fireworks will start soon! Oh, and today was the annual "Get out the dachshund corn on the cob holders!" day. Every 4th!

And the Art.com building across the way is celebrating with a special light display of their sign.

Happy Independence Day.

NHShorty and I took in the fireworks in Manchester, NH last night and the fireworks in Concord, NH tonight.

RobynPrincess, you know what we are celebrating, right?

Wow, Jeff, what a great view from your apartment!!! And those corn holders beat all.

The 4th is special to me also because I had a baby that day, 24 years ago. She is my little firecracker, now all grown up and married.

You guys have an awesome view Jeff! And yes, the corn cob holders are just way too cute.

We went to see the fireworks, there's a great spot behind the Children's Museum that DD Tori works at. I only had to yell at Katie a half a dozen times. She wanted to sit on a ledge that was behind two safety barriers and had a 15 foot drop below it. Yes, yes it was a great vantage point - but I didn't feel like going to the ER when she fell off.

I really dislike where we live, but if there is one thing that Rockford does right it's put on fireworks. We watched a stunning 30 minute display coordinated to music. There were huge fireworks, some fun shaped ones and really bright colors this year. They did not disappoint.

I forgot my camera, but I did get a couple of shots with my phone.

Jeff, those are the best corn on the cob holders I've ever seen. Too cute!

Jeff is that Gus or Dora posing with that ear of corn. Seriously that corn holder is the greatest.

Funny, a friend and I went to dinner before the town fireworks and ended up in conversation with a couple from Britain (although he's British, she's American). He was all excited to watch the fireworks until right before they started and it dawned on him....and then he got a little surly!!

Thank you Robyn...!....we had a small gathering Friday night...white sangrias from scratch and hand pulled bbq chicken ! Yum!
