Hard decision but financially sensible

Well today we have sent off the paperwork to sell our DVC points. We talked it through a lot and we are not happy with the current direction Disney are going. We understand that Disney are a business and have to make money but more and more of the things that make Disney special for us have gone and it is going more towards any old theme park but with higher prices. Also when we can fly we know the cost of flights will initially be low to encourage people to fly but will then go sky high (sorry bad pun) which with my choice to take early retirement won't be financially viable. This doesn't mean we won't go just that we will be more picky about where we stay and may use some of the big chains that are at the Springs. We probably wouldn't have come out for the next couple of years and the cost of the annual fees is around PS1400 annually so not cheap. We feel incredibly blessed that we have had so many great trips and met such wonderful people and done some amazing things (my highlight is riding the last train before is closed for the Tron refurb just us and crying CMs) but in the current environment we have to be sensible

So sorry for you Sally-Ann & Graham, but I can understand completely what you are saying. Right now things are tough and yes Disney is experiencing a lot of changes. Hope to meet with you and "G" again in Disney though at some point.

Oh my goodness, what a rough decision to make. I'm sure that you are doing what is best your your family though. I'm also very glad to hear that you still plan on Disney travel and you are open to alternative accommodations. There are so many options at Disney and DVC isn't for everyone.

Well it is all done (except for claiming back the FIRPTA) and the money in our savings. Won't lie did feel sad when the confirmation came in. I hope the people who bought the points enjoy Disney as much as we did and will do in the future.
