Have You Ever Gotten Lost at Disney?

Have you ever gotten lost at your Disney resort? How did you find your way?

My family had an incident this month where my 14 year old (who struggles with anxiety) got lost at the Wilderness Lodge. Eventually she found her way back to the room, but with spotty service on her cell phone at the resort she was unable to get a hold of me and was pretty upset. She was finally able to get back to the room and wait for her sister to come, but it was quite an ordeal. She said she could hear Cast Members talking behind a wall with a sign marked "Cast Members Only" but she didn't want to go back there for help because she was worried she would get in trouble.

I told her that next time she shouldn't let a sign get between her and rescue. mickey

Yes, in 2010 when I stayed at POR. I spent a lot of the time I was at the resort getting lost. In fact my last day I got so lost trying to get to the main building with my luggage so I could check out that I ended up asking a cast member for directions. POR is beautiful but between the poor (read almost nonexistant) signage & all the foliage (so you can't see to get your bearings) it's almost to navigate without getting lost.

DH did, on the last trip that included our son in 1998 at POR. We were in the mansions, a 3 minute walk from the food court, and he decided he wanted some hot chocolate. It was an hour and a half before he came back! eek He *said* he was just wandering around, but finally admitted he had to go to the desk and get directions back to the room. Of course we've never let him live that down since! biggrin

Only when driving from one place to another. But, now thanks to smart phones, we tend to get lost a little less.

lmao I've never gotten lost AT my resort, but when I was down there for like an hour a week and a half ago, I missed the turn onto Buena Vista Dr to get to my destination of Downtown Disney (there was a truck in my way being stupid and I was mad at it and it distracted me!!) and I didn't want to seem like an idiot and make a U-Turn, so somehow I ended up at... the Epcot gates? Still have no idea how it happened. Luckily there wasn't anyone manning the parking, and there was a turn off to go back from whence I came (though I'm sure when I explained my situation to anyone there, I would have been fine regardless but I was SCURRED).

This was fine with me, though, because I just got on Buena Vista from there and got to drive past all the Epcot-area resorts, Hollywood Studios, etc. So I got to see Tower of Terror in the distance, and parts of the Boardwalk!! Getting lost actually added some magic to my short, short trip. laugh

While at my first trip to Epcot I was leaving to get the monorail to Magic Kingdom, I made a wrong turn and ended up by Test Track. I missed that part of park while there so it wasn't all bad.

At MNSSHP we got lost in MK....the storm was raining in sheets so hard we could barely keep our eyes open...the map was drenched and soggy...We finally just kept walking until we saw the castle and made sure we walked towards it...when we reached it we were in the back of it...but at least I knew Main Street was close by!

If she would of peaked her ahead around and said, "excuse me, but i would like some help getting back to my room" nicely and politely, I'm guessing cms would of helped her. I know I would. I help lost people all the time anyway, so it's second nature to me.

I got slightly lost at DAK Lodge the first time my DB and I stayed there. I thought I could take the elevator from the parking levels all the way up to my floor but I didn't realize the buildings were split in half. I've gotten lost backstage MK before. Backstage DHS is also a little confusing at first. I've gotten lost driving around property before I got to know where all the turn offs are at.

One of my daughters got separated from us right after Haunted Mansion many years ago. I was solo with 5 kids - my 4 and a foster child - and she decided to stop and browse a kiosk as we came off the ride. I kept walking in my mama duck manner expecting all ducklings to follow, and discovered about 100 yards later that she was missing.

This was during high summer crowd season, with tides of folks midday.

Fortunately, my then 7 year old knew Disney well, and just went straight to a CM. I did the same thing, radio transmissions began, and an hour later we all met in the first aid place. A little stressful, but I knew Disney would find her.

However, we amended our time of day to hit the parks (camping in Ft Wilderness) to avoid the huge crowds! eek

I did! It was in the early 90's, I was like 8 or so. It was also July 4th week, so very crowded.

We had just gotten off splash mountain and were looking at our pictures at the kiosk. My family I guess had walked on and I was still standing there. I didn't even realize they walked away until 3 or 4 minutes passed by. I started looking around for them and panicking. My family had walked through the SM store and noticed and freaked out. My dad literally took off running with my uncle thinking someone snatched me. My mom stayed put with my brother, crying. I just started walking and eventually walked up behind my mom. Of course, they were like "we told you we were leaving, blah, blah, blah." If my mom wasn't crying, I may have gotten spanked. laugh They were worried, but it all worked out in the end. Smile
