We're starting to know more and more people in Orlando so we're tending to run into people down there. Have you ever run into anyone you didn't know was there?

Yes! Once in 2009.
On the walkway from the Beach Club to Epcot, we ran into a lady I worked with some 15 years ago and hadn't seen nor spoken to since.
Found out we were both staying at the Beach Club, and her and her aunt visit every year in September. Then we ran into them 2 more times at the pool during the week.
That hasnt happened to me at WDW, but my brother and I were on a Disney Cruise and we were about.. 4 days in, and we were walking on deck and this guy and his son walked past us. My brother and I kinda paused, and then we stopped, and we looked at each other and said.. "how do we know that guy?"
We looked behind us and HE ha stopped and was looking back at us..
lol
it was our NEXT DOOR neighbor!
it was pretty funny
Ha! JeffC -- I always find that once I run into someone, I just keep seeing them over and over. The "World" gets very small!
DD -- Funny that you guys didn't even know it! You could have carpooled to the cruise terminal!
May 2008 CSR
We did know they were there, but had no plans to meet up, it was our neighbors down the street.
First we parked at MK and took the monorail to Epcot for the day and passed each other in the Monorail Station, they'd parked at Epcot and decided to head to MK for the day. Later that week, we were waiting for Space Mountain as they were walking off it. Then at the end of the week we were in the Coral Reef at the same time.
We saw them there more than we did some weeks at home!
Wishin' I was at WDW!
I'm having deja vu, like I've said this before, but anyway...last year I was walking past Mouse Gear in Epcot, when I saw a couple from home (WV) come out of the store. I may not have recognized them, because I hadn't seen them for years, but I had JUST been home and knew they were heading to WDW. It was crazy to bump into them, though.
Here's the real question: have you ever seen someone you know at WDW - and headed the other way? ;-D

Yes.
But not someone I know..know. There used to be a woman who was sort of infamous around the Disney message board community. She lived in Kissimmee and posted on just about every big Disney forum there was. She had a lot of nay-sayers and a lot of supporters but she was kind of more like a character than a real person. It's hard for me to explain without getting really in detail about some of things that people said that she said & did..anyway..I saw her once. She had no idea who I was..and I turned the other way. Ha. Whoops.
Well... me personally. No. But when I am with my Dad. Yes!
My Dad is an optometrist, and for those who dont know what that is, basically they are an eye doctor. He checks your eyes, and gives ya the coke bottle glasses if ya need em. He LOOOOOOVES Disney, and he will talk about Disney World to his patients all the time. Tells them when he thinks the best time is... for us its the week before or after Thanksgiving... and always recommends them to go during that time if they want to go to Disney. So ok... back story done. Onto fun stuff...
The second time we went I was a kid. Cant remember the exact age, but im thinking around the age of 8... we were at Epcot. And all of a sudden I hear in the background... "Dr. Mason! Dr. Mason!!!!" I turn back, and I tell my Dad some weird people are calling your name. He turns around, and says Hi to them, and starts chatting. Me being the unpatient little boy... im begging my Dad to go so we can go ride the rides. Finally he says Bye and we go on our way. I ask him who they were, and he said. Son... I honestly have no clue, but there patients of mine.
The second instant happened a couple days later at the Magic Kingdom. Same thing.... "Dr. Mason! Blah Blah Blah...". It was another patient! But I knew this one because they had a daughter that was cute. LOL.
THIRD TIME... this was on the next trip... like 4 years later. Same exact thing! ANOTHER PATIENT!
FOURTH TIME! 2 years ago! PATIENT!
Last trip... we get through most of the week, and on the second to last day.... YES! YOU GUESSED IT! Naw... im just kidding! This last trip was the first time since we had been to Disney that he hadnt seen a patient. So maybe come November... we can do it again!

Maybe he should wear a disguise?
I guess funny glasses are out.

We ran into my husband's cousin once at the Magic Kingdom. We had no idea her family were going to be there and we just walked past each other and were like, Wait! So weird!
We see more of our friends/family while we are in WDW than we do when we are at home. I guess it helps that people know we are Disney addicts and are always asking when we are going and if we can meet up or travel together. It's always nice to see a familiar face.
I also realized sitting at the Biergarten that one of the servers looked familiar. It was only after I made that comment to my sister that it hit me that the reason the server looked familiar is because I had been to WDW 4 times in one year and had eaten at this restaurant each time. Yeah, I guess he would look familiar...he works there!

In 2006 I was trying to find a spot to watch Fantasmic. It was just me and my son (can't remember what the rest of the family was doing). Anyway, all I needed was a spot for 1-1/2 persons. My son was small enough to sit on my lap if necessary. I asked a lady if there was room for us and she scooted over to make room. We chated about this and that for a a few minutes. I asked her where she was from and she said Weatherford TX. I live just a few miles away. Weird that with all of those hundreds of people from everywhere around the world I would end up sitting next to someone who lived so close.
Karen -- isn't that weird? Happens a lot to me with my hometown up in Western NY!
My fiance and I are both teachers and without fail we always run into at least one student every time we go.

One of my good friends from college is from NY. She was down here on Winter Break and we were at MK, and she ran into at least one colleague and I think a student. I thought it was crazy! But I guess it makes sense. I mean...everyone's on vacay, some people are going to head to WDW!
This happens to me a lot a Disneyland...
I went on Friday (by myself) and I ended up finding 4 people that I knew! (and they werent all together!)
It was nice because I had someone to watch the new parade with!
I remember talking to this girl on the web, we knew we'd be in the same hotel at the same time, but for some reason, we didn't make plans or anything, or maybe we forgot to switch phones or something...
So I'm walking towards the bathroom at All Star Music and I hear NOTURNA!!! (each, or course, is not my real name, so I was like, WTF) and BAM!, there she is! We ended up going to the Studios together, her family, my mom and I and they were super fun. I'm really glad she recognized me
This timing is funny. We are local and are at Disney a lot. We always say how funny it is that we go so much and never see anyone we know, either from our hometown up north, or from living in Tampa (and we're both teachers). We were at EPCOT on Sunday watching Off Kilter (our fave) and I watched as the color drained from my husband's face. As we walked away, he explained that he had just seen his ex wife. They were divorced more than 25 yrs ago, and she still lives in VA where they moved right after they got married, he moved back home after the divorce, she stayed there. He hasn't seen or spoken to her in all those yrs. Of course he wouldn't go talk to her, but he messaged her on fb and said he hopes she had a nice vacation at Disney. That oughta freak her out, hearing from him after all these years! And I still don't know what she looks like!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is crazy! I can't believe he didn't go talk to her? I would have killed him for not pointing her out to me..I would want to know what she looks like!
What a small small world!
And I can't believe you haven't seen any of your kids there. Every time a teacher at my school goes to WDW they always come back and say, "Oh I saw..."
