Have you ever used an Owner's Locker?

I used to hear about The Owners Locker being used a lot. I think it is awesome for people who go a lot and have to fly so they don't have to pay luggage fees. A good friend of mine goes at least 3-4 times a year (shes a DVCer) and keeps things like shampoo, extra hair straighter and stuff like that. For us it would just be an extra since we don't go that much.

Anyone here ever use it before?

Definitely not worth it for me. I would have to make 10 trips the first year just to make it worth while and 7 each year after. That would be weekend only trips so I could pack my clothes in a carry-on. There's no way I'd be able to pack a week's worth of clothes in a carry-on. So if I did go for a week, I'll still have to pay to check my suitcase. I guess there is always to the option of leaving clothes in the locker. I'd have to do laundry twice - once when I get it to freshen them up after being stored and before I leave so I'm not storing dirty clothes.

Nope. I'll just run home and get my stuff Smile But seriously...I hadn't heard of it, and I can't think of why I'd ever use it. We never seem to go someplace over and over again...except Disney. And we live here. So...

My Dad and I keep going back and forth on it. We'd like to put some little things in it like extra plugs to plug in our stuff. We would also put plastic stuff like cups and forks and spoons, so we wouldn't have to use the stuff in the rooms, and have to wash them. We even talked about a 360 or a Wii for when we get back to the room. We came up with more stuff but my brain isnt working so well on a weekend... lol

Having a locker in Disney would be a luxury to me. Your basically paying to house some stuff that you dont want to put in your suitcase every time you go to Disney. So I wouldnt look at this as trying to save money or make it worth it. This would be putting stuff in that you always take with you to Disney so you wont forget them like extra chargers for your phone, power outlets... stuff like that.

If we went as often as we used to it might make sense. Honestly what I always want to use it for are clothes. I'd like to leave a set there and just travel light when I come.

I was actually thinking of you and Jess and some others on the board who go a lot like Brad and Mr. Hubbs and Scrappy when I posted this. For me..it would be totally worthless since I go once every few years but for those who own DVC and go more often it might be nice.

We use it and LOVE it!!! We keep all those incidentals, like tylenol, allergy meds, toothpaste, tooth brushes, hair stuff, make up, sunscreen, etc...all those 'little things' that are such a pain in the butt to pack. Mostly bathroom supplies but then other stuff like first aid stuff too.

We are DVC members and travel with our 3 kids so packing for vacation is so much easier with all that little stuff already there!

Awesome, it's great to hear from someone who uses it and likes it!

We are seriously considering doing this. Our family purchased two DVC properties this past year and we plan to go several times a year. We would like to leave a lot of things down at Disney so we don't have to pack them every time we go. It will make checking baggage easier and we might be able to just do carry on if we leave all the big stuff down in FL.

We don't care for the water so we are thinking about things like a water pitcher & filtered water bottles. Sunscreen, toiletries, dryer sheets, detergent, umbrellas, backpacks, first aid items, kitchen items....

We are going down in about a month for a short trip and we are going to pack some of the stuff in our checked bags and then leave them down there in our locker. We figured out the cost is totally worth it with the extra baggage fees. Sometimes the cheap flights are the ones with baggage fees so this way a carry on is all we would need.

Came here to see what people were thinking but it looks like the conversations are pretty old so I thought I would add my thoughts! mickey

Hubby discovered them and we have decided this is worth it! So much of the stuff we take is the same every time so why not just leave it down there. They deliver the locker to your DVC home and pick it up so it seems like a great idea to me.

We are also thinking about leaving a couple of jackets for those chilly nights. They take up a lot of room in your suitcase.

I looked into this for my family when we first joined DVC and we decided that it just wouldn't work for the way we travel. I think that if we went to WDW on every trip then it might have worked for us, but we rotate through DCL and DLR too. I also wasn't sure that I had that much "extra" stuff to put in a box to make it worth it.

As much as we go, its still not worth us doing it. We drive and can take everything we need, although I could have put the Christmas tree in one and scrappy could have it then when we go at times towards Christmas!

For a mere couple of hundred bucks a year, you'll no longer have to pack a tooth brush and toothpaste when you go to Disney World- think of the convenience!

Seriously, unless you have a brood of kids, and spend three weeks a year down there, I can't see this.

Flying down to Disney at least twice a year and not having to pay to check bags more than makes this worth it for us! Leaving a lot of the things you can't carry on in the box makes traveling a lot easier. We are flying down on SW in a couple of weeks & get two free bags so we are putting our stuff in the extra suitcases and then leaving our goodies in FL. Next time we go in February we can do carry on bags with no checked bag fees or the hassles.

NHshorty has one and we find it very convenient. Having laundry detergent, shampoo, toothpaste, wine glasses, cork screw, pool stuff, condiments, Disney gear, etc already down there reduces the tonnage you have to bring down.

If we went more often we would definitely get one. For now we only go once a year but when the grown up kids start coming with their families we will probably all chip in for one. That way if saves on packing all the stuff needed for the kids.

We just got one this year. We've got shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, etc., along w/ wine glasses, beach towels, a bathing suit for dh... I don't remember what else.

If we drove down, I wouldn't see the need for one either. But having to fly down? It's really nice not to have to worry about some of that extra stuff!
