Hello!

I'm new to this forum but not to Disney! I've been to WDW once when I was in 3rd grade (it was Disney's 25th anniversary) once when I was a senior in high school. Once in 1997 (the castle was a pink cake!) that was the first time I stayed in a resort, the Polynesian!

I was just there in May 2008, stayed at the Polynesian and that trip was HORRIBLE
If you like reading about other people's train wreck's here's a link http://www.theindependentmom.com/2008/05/walt-disney-world-vacation-saga.html
get some popcorn, LOL

It was so bad, I wanted a do - over and I am getting one! We go back at the end of April! yay and we're staying at the Poly again!

Wow! We don't get many bad stories actually. I think we all turn a blind eye when anything goes wrong. Welcome to the forum!

Reading it right now. Up to the point where Wyatt is freaked out by Mickey. It reminds me of a hilarious video where a little one is really happy and/or terrified to meet Eeyore, alternating.

Oh, hahhaa, actually, that was pretty funny!
Wait until you get to the part where we had to have an ambulance take my grandmother to Celebration Hospital! sarcastic

Here's the video of Eeyore

It's from our Video Links thread.

I read your story end-to-end. Honestly until Grandma got sick (is she feeling better now?), it sounded like a compilation of all the most common WDW problems. You had actually planned much more than most though, so you deserved to at least get to dodge a few of them!

Large groups are SO hard to manage, the most I've ever gone with is 3 total people and even 2 is hard to get coordination. "Laid Back" is they key.

Well, she does have congestive heart failure but it's now being managed since she is under a doctor's care for it. We also found out that my mom had a heel fracture and didn't even know it, which was why she was having so much pain walking!

This time, we're flying - a direct flight. My MIL is in Ohio (we're in PA) and she is flying in too and meeting us there. Just us and the kids - no mom or grandma this time.

BUT, my MIL just got news that her mammogram came back showing a rather large lesion and she needs to have an MRI (the first week in Feb.) so now we cross our fingers she is okay and not in for battle with breast cancer sad

That is a great video. Didn't get through all the story yet, but I hope your mother, mother in law and grandmother are all fine. Welcome to the forum!

I finished the whole tale! Glad everyone is alright! You actually did quite well if that was your first trip. Other than your Grandmother, nothing too terrible. You and your husband were still speaking, so that's actually at worst an A-.

Oh well, LOL - it wasn't my first trip, but it was my husband's, the kids and my MIL

Just too much bickering and the fat that my mom felt we had to do EVERYTHING together drove me batty!

Everyone needs some alone time! In theory you should have been able to offload the kids, which could have been a plus, but it didn't seem like that really happened. silly

That was a great quote from the Family Renions/Group planning thread that might have some good insight for your trip.
