Hi everyone My name is Nicole and I'm from Louisiana. I'm very excited to be a part of this!
Nicole, glad you found and joined our little group of Disney enthusiasts (read fanatics). Any trips in the planning stages?
Thank you!! I actually stumbled upon this site while I was on Pinterest and I knew right away I needed to be a part of it. I am indeed planning a trip. I am surprising my 10 year old sister with her first ever trip. It will also be my Moms first time. We are going to Walt Disney World on October 6, 2012. My sister thinks we are going in 2013 and she won't find out any different until the morning we leave. I've come up with a poem that she will get from Disney (yours truly) and I'll have her read it out loud. The poem will reveal the truth. I've been planning this trip forever and I can't wait to see her face when she finds out!!
Welcome!
What a wonderful surprise for your sister. Where are you staying? Do you have any advance dining reservations?
Thanks Jo Ann!! We are staying at the All Star Movies Resort. Yes we have reservations for everyday. We have reservations at Chef Mickeys twice because I want to eat breakfast and dinner with Mickey lol We also have reservations at Crystal Palace, Sci-fi dine in theatre, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Tony's Town Square, and Planet Hollywood.
Hi Nicole! That's so cool that you're surprising your sister! See you around!
Fellow Americans, I hear your tambourines inside my head and that's no lie!
Hi everyone. I actually just stumbled upon this board tonight. My girlfriend an I are Disney Enthusiest (more-so me though!). I am also a Annual Passholder (3rd year in a row), living 2 hours away for Walt Disney World definitely has its perks. I actually just got home tonight from a weekend excursion to all four parks. We stayed at the DoubleTree at Downtown Disney this time.
I look forward to using this board and being active as it fits me since I do not have children. Feel free to ask for any advice I have been to the parks many, many, many times, I am here to help.
Welcome BOTH nsaunier and Ucf_Grad!
Glad you both stumbled upon this great Disney community!

Hey there! Welcome!
How in the world have you been able to keep this a secret? You must be bursting to tell your sister! What a fun and exciting thing to do. There's nothing better than introducing someone to Disney!
I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. We will also be there in October, and everyone here tells me that is a great time to visit. (we usually go in the spring or September).

Time marches on. Eventually you realize it's doing it across your face.
Hello!
Thank You!! Oh it has been very VERY hard lol I tried to keep it from her all together but I couldn't stop talking about it so I ended up telling her that we are going in 2013. I didn't want her to get suspicious lol All I keep thinking about it the look on her face when she finds out. We aren't telling her until the morning that we leave so we aren't giving her any time to think about it. As soon as she finds out its going to be time to get ready to leave and head to the airport. I saved the envelope that I got from Disney with our welcome booklet and I typed out the poem in the Disney font on special paper and put it in that envelope that is now addressed to her. The front of the letter says "Family Vacation 2012" So that will be her first moment of confusion lol Here is what the poem says :
You may think we've messed up and printed the wrong year
But it seems we're more clever than we actually appear!
We are very sorry we aren't trying to be mean
But you can't come and see us in 2013!
The reason you see is very clear
You're actually coming this very year!!
Mickey and Minnie can't wait to play
So hop on a plane and come visit us today!
The wait is over the time is near
Your Disney Vacation is finally here!
You must be surprised and very excited
Your mom and your sister struggled to hide it!
Now go get dressed because you're leaving soon
You'll be in DISNEY this AFTERNOON!!!!
I'm so proud of that poem lol I'm going to cry like a baby while she is reading it haha When are you going in October?
Oh wow! That is a great poem, and I think I would cry too while she read it. You are the best big sister EVER!
We will be there from Oct. 8th-16th. We're staying at POR - that is our favourite resort. We almost booked the new Little Mermaid rooms at the A of A, but in the end, we decided to stick with the one we love. DH found the decor at A of A just a little too childish for his tastes. We stayed at All Star Music twice also, back when our son was younger, and that was great too. I don't think it matters where you stay, you will have a fabulous time at any of the resorts.

You should be very proud of that poem, it is wonderful!

Thank You!! Well we will be there at the same time. If you see a girl crying with her little sister and mom thats me lol I know I'll be crying A LOT!! We are staying at All Star Movies. I'm a huge Toy Story fan so it was a no brainer for me lol I did look into stayin at A of A too but when I booked our reservations I paid extra for a preferred room in the front and if we were to stay at the A or A it is almost the same price but we would be way in the back. So I figured we would just stay where we are and we will just go sight seeing one day and look at A of A.

Thank You Very Much!!!
nsaunier and great poem! You should deffinatly record that one.
Hi Nsaunier and welcome! We're so glad that you found us! I can't wait to hear all about your trip - October is one of my most favorite times to enjoy the parks.
I LOVE your ADRs - what a fun mix that you have. I just know your sister and mom will be over the moon.
Do you have any other fun experiences planned, like special events?
Thanks Lizzy. I'm glad to hear that October is a good time of year to go. The last time I went to Disney it was May 2009 and it rained all but 2 days that we were there. So for 5 days we were soaked and for 2 days we were HOT!! So when I started planning this trip October seemed to be a better choice. I'm hoping its not as hot and praying for no rain lol I can't wait to bring them and see how they react. You can explain to somebody how awesome it is until you are blue in the face but they will never truly understand until they have experienced it for themselves. I'm a softy so I'm going to be sooooo emotional!! I do not have anything extra planned. I looked into MNSSHP but I'm still on the fence and leaning towards no. A lot of the reviews I read said that the lines were crazy long and a lot of people said that they wouldn't do it again. For the 3 of us to go its about 180 dollars. I have already spent so much money and I think we can live without it. Have you ever done it? If so would you recommend it?
Nsaunier - Welcome! I think you'll find the folks around here to be super nice, super helpful, and super Disney Crazy!!
We actually went last October and had a super fab time! The weather was very nice...still warm, but not BLAZING hot...you're from LA, though, so you know!
We did MNSSHP, and it was fun, but crowded. We went Oct 20-24, though...I think you're going early enough in October to where it wouldn't be SUPER crowded, but it is a super extra chunk out of your budget to take three people. I will leave you with this: it was THE MOST AMAZING fireworks show I've ever seen.
ASM is so great; the Toy Story theming is indeed fabulous....ooh, you're gonna have the best time!!
And your poem is such a nice touch...I love a good Disney surprise visit!!
UCF_grad....Welcome to you, too!!
Now the hard part is going to be sitting on the secret!!!
Are you still on the fence about the Halloween Party, or have you decided one way or the other?
