Hi all,
I'm new here. There seem to be quite a few folks from my home state, so it's fun to see that! I'm from Hanover, a small-ish town that just celebrated its 250th anniversary. We're about 14 miles east of Gettysburg and just north of the Maryland line. Like you, I love all things Disney--especially animation, visiting WDW, trivia/history, and pin trading. A few of my friends totally get it, but most are confused by my obsession because we've made a conscious choice not to have children and they seem to think that the only reason to go to WDW is to take the kids. I'm equally baffled by their crazy ideas...
By day, I'm a real estate agent and by evening, I'm a gymnastics coach, so coordinating those schedules to find times for my husband (a paralegal and aspiring fantasy novelist) and I to visit the happiest place on earth can be quite a challenge. we are very excited about our upcoming 11-day 10th anniversary trip, the first of four trips we have planned in the next 12 months (the bosses can just deal with it!!). We are now armed with a newly acquired DVC resale (Saratoga) and annual passes. 38 days to go!!
As a kid, I visited WDW with my parents in 1989 and 1990 for 3 days each time. That was it until my husband and I honeymooned in WDW in 2003...without understanding how necessary proper planning had become...on new year's eve...in the magic kingdom. ACK! my husband still has stroller PTSD from being attacked by vicious parents who started using their children's transportation systems as weapons to fight their way through the crowds. After Christmas, a Wedding 2 days later (for which we were both sick), and two solid days of driving, we arrived at MK just in time to be told that the park was at capacity for the day and if we were staying for fireworks, it was suggested that we not leave. It was 10am. That blew our mid-day nap plan out of the water, but we decided to try to make it. Until they started handing out the noisemakers. At 4pm. We were out of the park by 4:20. I fell asleep at 9:00 and slept for 12 hours. It took us 7 years to work up the courage to try again, but I'm so glad we did!
We've learned a lot since then thanks to the wonderful people who provide such a wealth of WDW information online. So, without further ado...
