Hi

I am never sure what to put here!

I took my DH for his first visit to WDW this May and he loved it, so much so that we became AKL DVC owners. Am now planning and living for our first DVC trip next October for my 50th yay and cannot wait. In the interim we are taking my parents for their first trip to Disney (DLP) to celebrate their 75th birthdays in June so if anyone has tips hints etc would be appreciated. We have recently got kittens and apart from the odd rude name the boy is black and white and called Mortimer and I do forget and call him Mortimer Mouse!

Disney is the place that it doesn't matter whether you are an adult or a child the magic touch of Disney makes everything seem brighter and better and I wish I could have met Walt to shake his hand and say thanks x

welcome Sally-Ann to the best Disney site. I have never been to DLP but I know that there are others who have been and will be and are a wealth of information.

welcome Sally, to the best WDW site I know of ( and I've looked at a lot). Many of us here, it seems, are DVC owners too ( I'm at SSR) my DW, and I are big fans of AKL, it's one of the reasons we joined the DVC.

We too are DVCer's at OKW. Have never regretted buying into Disney! As a recent joinee to this site ourselves, welcome and we've had a great time conversing with everyone. A lot of good information and entertainment also. Never a dull moment in these forums.

Hi Sally-Ann and welcome!

Any favorite foods, snacks, special treats you've discovered and are looking forward to when you get back in October of 2013?

And do you have any special dining reservations in mind for the big 5-0 celebration?!

Welcome, Sally-Ann!

How fun to be DVC members...that's awesome!!

How many times have you been to WDW? Have you been to DLP, too? I've never been to DLP, so unfortunately, I have no advice to give on that subject, but I know there are folks around here who will have some advice for you! There's a special section here called "Traveling with Seniors" that may help you with some of your planning.

Welcome! We're glad you're here!

Thank you all for the kind welcome.

We are planning to try and book the chefs table at Victoria and Albert for my 50th. I have it earmarked in my calendar to book at the 190 day mark. As for food we are both avid readers of the DFB and the podcasts my DH says that if AJ approves it it must be OK laugh I have never had a corn dog and didn't actually know what one was until recently! So I am planning on trying one as it sounds "interesting". We also missed out on Dole Whips this year so another thing to try.

We stayed in PO FQ this year and had a garden view room in building 2. We were lucky as the room was 1 away from the corner and we had a river view. Very pretty place, nice pool friendly staff would recommend it. Cannot wait for next October and 2 weeks at Kidani. Can someone tell me if the one beds have tea kettles (not really a coffee drinker!!) and a non in the wall safe?

My wife and I both turn the big "five-0" next year. We would love to do the Chef's table at V&A. We've eaten there at a regular seating and it was well worth the dining experience for a special occasion.

I do not remember if the one-bed has a tea kettle or not. I do not recall seeing one the last time we stayed at AKL. I also think the safes are the small in-wall ones.
