Hi Everyone!

I've been visiting the site for a while to check out news and just recently started reading through the forums so I thought I would introduce myself.

I'm Lori, a long time Disney fanatic from Wisconsin. I visited Walt Disney World 4 times between the ages of 13 -18, but didn't get back again until I was 30. That return trip was absolutely magical. It was so great to be immersed in a whole other world and be a kid again. That trip was with my parents, brother(34) and my husband (38)-who was a little reluctant about going but by the end of the trip we had him converted to a Disney fanatic as well. That was my first time seeing the Animal Kingdom and first time enjoying Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. As if I wasn't already in love with the place, I had even more reasons to come back. Since then, my husband and I have been back 3 times and we can't get enough. Our 4th trip together will be this fall. We always go for the Food and Wine festival and are avid Disney photographers. So if you are at the parks and you see a couple with cameras glued to their faces, that's probably us. Although we have a few favorite things we must do every trip (eat at Raglan Road), we like to try something new everytrip. Any suggestions for good foods to try at the Food and Wine Festival? Or something to do on a day off from the park?

Hope you all have a very Magical Day!

Hi and welcome! Where are you staying on your next trip? I would love to give you F&WF food tips since that's one of my favorite times to go, but I don't think they have the list of food items out for this year yet :-/ I'm sure you will have a fantastic time, though!

Wow, can't believe the number of respsonses. What a friendly group. Going to try and answer a few questions.

On our upcoming fall trip we will be staying at Coronado Springs. This will be our first time at a moderate resort. The last two trips we stayed at Pop Century. We had originally planned to stay at Port Orleans Riverside but that resort wasn't included in the free dining offer so we switched to Coronado Springs. I may have to write a pre-trip report to detail all the craziness of getting this upcoming trip set.

It's hard to pick any favorite attractions, I love so much of it. I enjoy the thrill rides and the calm rides and I enjoy the shows as well.

As much as I love the Food and Wine Festival, I wouldn't consider myself a serious "foodie." I'm a pretty picky eater-I'm mostly a meat and potatoes kind of girl. But I think that's why I enjoy the festival. I get a chance to order things I wouldn't normally eat and they're smaller portions. I can't wait to see this year's menu!

I will definitely have to check out the photography section. I'm very much an amateur but my husband has always been into photography and he got me hooked on it, especially at Disney. They pay so much attention to detail. You can find something to take a picture of everywhere.

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome. Looking forward to participating more on the boards here!

welcome Yes, this is a fantastic group!

As a suggestion for non-park days I always recommend a resort tour. There are so many things to see, and photograph, at each of the resorts. And getting there is half the fun! You can take a bus to the TTC (I think. If not, go to Downtown and take a bus to the Polynesian) and take the Monorail around the MK resorts. First stop is the Polynesian, second is Grand Floridian, skip the MK stop, and the Contemporary is last before returning to the TTC. When you're at the Contemporary, you can go out to the dock and hop on the boat that goes around Bay Lake (make sure you take the resort boat and not the MK boat, it will be posted and the skippers will always announce where they're going as well), the boat stops at both Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness campground. See FW first, and then take the boat to WL (or there's a 3/4 mile hiking path if you're feeling like a hike). Once you've seen both of them, you can take a bus back to Downtown Disney and then take a bus from there to the Boardwalk and ride a boat from there over to the Yacht/Beach Clubs. You can also take a bus to Animal Kingdom and then hop on an Animal Kingdom Lodge bus to tour there. Smile

Can't wait to hear about your planning and how the trip goes! Smile

Just a heads up on Coronado. We stayed there in April 2012. The resort is beautiful, the room was fantastic, the Cast Members were lovely. I would absolutely stay there again. However, at that time, we experienced very spotty bus service (wait times as long as 30-40 minutes sometimes) relative to other resorts we've stayed at and this was a common complaint at the time. If the recent reviews haven't improved in this area and depending on your tolerance for public transportation, I would maybe consider renting a car.

We'll be at Coronado Springs the beginning of September for our first time, too! Free Dining is what caused us to make the switch, as well. We were originally at Pop but upgraded for the regular dining plan vs. quick service and with 4 of us in the room it was just as cheap for us to upgrade rooms as it would have been to upgrade the DP.

Welcome Lori. I love the Food and Wine Festival as well. My countdown starts the night the Festival ends so I'm so anxious for this year especially since they added an additional week. We go the first weekend, a weekend in the middle and the last weekend. I live for the F&WF.

See you in the parks and I'll look for the camera's.

Hi Joann. I go solo to the F&WF sometimes as well. My family doesn't go as often as I do so maybe I'll see you there.

Glad to hear you liked the resort. As much as we like the idea of using Disney's Magical Express and be whisked away to Disney World and leave the rest of the world behind, we always end up renting a car. It's nice being able to just come and go whenever you need with out having to wait on transporation. Also on this trip we are heading to Kennedy Space Center for a day so we needed one for that. I get a little crazy about checking for car rental deals and we tend get the cars pretty cheap.

Oh good! As long as you've got a car, you're in business!! Our Coronado trip is what started our ventures into car rental and now I'm hooked...

Hey, Lori!
Welcome!

Do you get the little passport for the Food and Wine Festival? That's like the highlight of it all for me...making sure I sample from each of the countries! And, for a lot (if not all) of the appetizer sized portions at the kiosks, you can use a snack credit, if you're on the dining plan...bonus! Smile
