Hi everyone!

Another NC adult mouse-lover here mickey

I became an addict in 2001 in my late 30's. We've been to the World 5 times now - generally every other year odd year unless I can convince the DP to take me more often.

We just moved to NC in May from MN - I sold the move under the pretense of a new job opportunity (which is true!) but the real reason was to get within driving distance to WDW! I'm a sneaky one biggrin

And so far it's paid off - I whined enough to convince the other half to take me to WDW for a long weekend in early December. I've always wanted to see Disney all decked out for the holiday. And I scored tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! Woo!

I'm so excited to have found this site and look forward to meeting many new enablers...er...I mean friends!

Thanks scrappy! Even better, I have 2 trips planned! December 3-6 for a mini-trip, and then April 30-May 14, 2011.

bighug Welcome aboard, Jeff! Well done on the sneaky move; I'm sure we've all thought about that a time or two!

Looking forward to hearing all about your plans for December and May. We love the holidays at Disney World around here.

We have two trips planned as well and a third in the talk about it stage. Looks like we will miss you everytime though. We are going in less than two weeks and the last week of January. I would love to get in a Christmas trip but it looks like that one will have to wait till next year. Where are you staying on your upcoming trips?

I am so excited about the Christmas trip!

In December we are staying at POFQ. We haven't decided about the 2001 trip yet. Probably another Moderate resort.

I'm thinking about (and saving up for) the Grand Floridian for 2013, which will be my 50th birthday celebration! Anyone have any thoughts yeah or nah on whether it's worth the money? I know it will be another Deluxe resort, so would love opinions and suggestions.

Hey Jeff! Welcome to WDWFG!

I always say the resorts are worth what you're comfortable spending. I think if you stretch your budget too far, then you have trouble enjoying your trip. I've never stayed at the GF, but it's a lovely resort. If I was going to spend the money I think I'd pick the Contemporary, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Monorail resorts. Honestly I think pretty much all the deluxe resorts are fantastic. I vote you stay at the GF so you can tell us all about it when you get back. wink

I agree with cdub all of the monorail resorts are nice. Our favorite is the Poly. We have been to both of the other resorts for meals but have never stayed in either. I really think it comes down to the themes and which one you like the best.

CR has the ability to walk to the MK which is pretty unique, but other than that it doesn't have much in the theme department. GF is really nice, but I think the Poly has by far the most interesting theme of the Monorail resorts. Of course I love Polynesian stuff to begin with and I just find that resort very relaxing. Sadly I've never gotten to stay there.

OOoo, the Polynesian - that might be a great choice for fun theme! Didn't think about that. Thanks!

I like the Poly idea, too, but I DO have to say that one thing I like about deluxe resorts is not having to go outside to get to the lobby. biggrin

I would love to stay in the GF someday. It really is opulent.

The Poly does have that downside I suppose. I'd still love to try it.

Hi Jeff,

Welcome from another NCer...we have also relocated from the frozen north, by way of Orlando though. Being a Disney nut it was only natural to move to Orlando first...but we soon discovered that it wasn't a very "livable" place for us so we moved "half-way"!!

You'll meet some great folks on this board! We all share our love of Disney with each other and that helps to get through the "dry spells"...or as my DH describes it "the Void"!!

Millie
