Hi! Noob from far far away!

Hi all you helpful people on the boards!
I've decided to sign up for an acct after reading a million threads for all the useful information here biggrin

My FH and I are getting hitched the end of next year and plan to go to DW in 2013 for our honeymoon! (Gotta give ourselves some time to save up again after the wedding). I'm prematurely reading up on honeymoon planning as it's a lot less stressful than wedding planning!

I'm from Asia and we'll be visiting NYC + Orlando for about 2 weeks. First time in the US for him, 2nd for me! No confirmed dates yet but leaning towards spring or fall when the weather would be cooler. Any recommendations would be great! As much as kids make DW, we're hoping for a more 'grown up' virgin trip to DW so any resort recommendations would be great too. Am liking the photos and convenience of Contemporary but it's still early days.

TIA for your help with all my questions and hope I can contribute to these awesome boards!

Welcome! And congratulations on your impending wedding and honeymoon!

I love WDW in the fall, it's my favorite time of year to travel there. Most of the crowds are gone, the weather is still pretty warm but not overly oppressive. In October there's always Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, which is full of special "grown up" things to do.

Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I agree with DVC Mom that the fall is a great time to visit. I don't know the exact dates of the 2013 Food & Wine Festival here are the dates for this year's and next year's to give you some idea of the timing.

2011 - September 30 - November 13
2012 - September 28 - November 11

Click here for information on this year's festival.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! These boards are really active.

November sounds great and the food fest sounds right up my alley (foodie and all). Also looking at May as it's his birthday month (Nov is mine wink ) and was hoping to hit NYC for the pre-memorial day sales. Thanks for the suggestions! Will discuss and relook it.

We've been to the Disneyland in Japan which is tiny compared to DW I'm sure. Still trying to wrap my head around the sheer size of DW and how I'm gonna plan this monster trip. Reading all the tips have been super helpful!

Been checking the boards and realise while there's great love for AKL and WL, not many recommend Contemporary or Boardwalk. Any reason for that? We kind of like the monorail and the convenience it hints at

Hello, welcome and congratulations on all the upcoming major life events! date

Personally, our favorite times in terms of weather and crowd levels is end of April/early May (after Spring Break, before summer), and mid-late September into early November (after US Labor Day and before US Thanksgiving).

AKL and WL are both home to Disney time share properties as well as regular hotel rooms, which can skew the "view" the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary is also a time share building, but is the newest one, so it hasn't had the repeat guests the others get. Many people have the opinion that the Contemporary lacks the immersive theme that the other resorts have. It's more of a regular hotel in theme, than something magical and transporting. My personal experience with the Contemporary is that it's usually very crowded and can be difficult to get a dining reservation at if you haven't planned 180 days out. There is a lot of non-guest traffic that comes through the lobby & restaurant areas. The "hustle and bustle" stresses me out a little.

My choice for a honeymoon would be across the lake from the Contemporary at the Grand Floridian. It offers a rich luxurious theme, relaxed pace and is still on the monorail. I will say that in my opinion you can't go wrong with any of the Disney Deluxe Resorts, they are all special in their own ways, all have top notch service, fantastic housekeeping and their own magical design. A lot of it just comes down to personal opinion of the resort's theme.

Hi! and welcome to WDWFG. My recomendation for a great resort is a Savanah view room at AKL Jambo House, it was my favorite of all the resorts I have stayed at.

Welcome to the board! And I echo Vette on this one. The only thing I can image is better is a view of the Magic Kingdom. But if you want calm quiet environment outside your window... you can not go wrong with a Savannah View at Jambo.

Hi oreo.cinn & welcome . Also congrats . I'm sure you'll be ale to find all your answers here on our board. Our personal favorite is the Polynesian Resort with a Magic Kingdom view. That just does it for us. We are DVC members and our home resort is SSR, but any chance we get to stay at the Poly, we do!

Hi Noob and all other members!

From another Noob! My first time on the board! I am also from far away, London UK. I love Disney and am a DVC member SSR resort is home. Just returned home 2 weeks ago from our latest trip and just booked to go back in Oct this year for Halloween. What a great trip for a Honeymoon. I tend to go with my family (my mum and Son) but I love that there is still plenty to do at Disney for some 'me' grown up time! I am sure that you will have a fantastic time.

Hi to all other members on the board as well. It looks like a great place to share all Disney related things. I have visited Disney land, world and Paris but yet to get to the other two. Most of my friends think I am insane but I think you just can't beat Disney. My vacations keep me happy all year round!
