It looks like we'll be there for a couple of days of the party (based on last year's dates), so I'm thinking about going. Is it worth the cost, in your opinion? What is the best part of going? Why is this a no-miss attraction? Or why is it not? 
In a single word YES But this is more than one word.
Yes. I like that you can keep picking up hot chocolate and cookies along the way. I know that is an expensive couple cups of hot chocolate, but it's worth it to me. Oh, and the shorter lines. I enjoy the atmosphere, the lower crowds and the hot chocolate & cookies.

Yes, the cookies and coco, shorter lines. Holiday Wishes, A few million Christmas lights icing the castle all add a great energy but for me turning the corner and headed out of the park and walking into yet one more pieces if Disney magic makes it for me. If holiday cheer does it for you Disney does it better than Norman Rockwell for me.
I agree, it is worth it. The parade is fun. The fireworks are fantastic.
I do have one suggestion. If there is a party on the day of your arrival, I would pick a different day if you can. I went the day I flew in and it made for a really long day.
When do tickets go on sale for both the Christmas party and MNSSHP usually?
Last year they went on sale May 2.

I think we will go to the Christmas party. I'm planning all this fun stuff for DH for our anniversary since I'm running the race, I'll count this as my fun. 
What date do you think the last MNSSHP and the first Christmas party will be? We are in Disney in November and I wondered if we can catch either of them or if we will just miss out?

Last year ,the last MNSSHP was 11/02, and the first MVMCP was 11/09. They should be around those same dates this year.
We are always hesitent, but I do have a friend who absolutely loves Disney villians. So would MNSSHP party be a not miss for her?

Thank you JoAnn, we arrive on 11/03 so will miss the Halloween one but will be around for the start of the Christmas parties.

If her schedule allows, she may want to attend the "Unleash the Villians" event at Hollywood Studios on September 13th (a Friday).

We heard about this from a CM last year. The Villains will me taking of WDW for a whole week! He said at the end of the week there would be an even bigger surprise.
