House of Blues Review???

We had one evening open with no reservation so we booked House of Blues for 8:00.

There is so much we could do and so little time. If you wanted to have one dinner at Down town Disney, where would you go and why?

House of Blues is fine. I've eaten there. Interesting decor, decent food (big portions, at least that was true 4 years ago, I don't know about today), good music and atmosphere, not bad prices. Wolfgang Puck is also good. It doesn't have quite the same groovy atmosphere as HOB, but the food is quite good.

I've been twice and found it to be decent, though the first time was a much more enjoyable experience than the second. The food is decent, especially if you like ribs/steaks type of cuisine. I found the service the second time to be much slower and less attentive.

Though they have the big acts in the adjacent theatre, sometimes there'll be live music playing in the restaurant which is a plus.

I'd say that if I had to choose just one meal at DtD, HoB wouldn't be a bad choice, though I'd probably say Fulton's would be my first choice.

I haven't ever been to HoB, so I'm interested in your review. I think it'd be a fun place to try!

I've eaten at Fulton's at Raglan Road at DTD, both of which are fine. Raglan Road a bit more of a standout for me.

Wasn't there a post here a while back about a renovation and menu revamp over at Portobello Yacht Club?

I think the key question is:

How much do you like music?

I like music and sometimes I enjoy blues. Most live music is good and for an hour or so while eating or having a couple drinks I think that it could be fun.

I thought about Fulton's Crab House, because of the riverboat setting, yet I think that the House of Blues should be fun.

I'll write and give you all my take on the place once we go. Thought if I got a bunch of poor reviews that we might change reservations to another restaurant.

I've heard some really good reviews of this place, John! I think you guys will love it. Have fun!

(Anywhere that I can get a ribeye with garlic-pepper cream sauce is good with me! Here's a menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_hob.htm)

I've never heard anyone say anything particularly bad about there except that it's entertainment that's available elsewhere. I.E. You can go to House of Blues without going to Disney World. Otherwise I'd see no reason not to go if a nice hour of blues with food sounds good. Look forward to hearing your review.

We're starting to get excited about up-coming wedding and honeymoon.

We made our last meal reservation today. We have all dinners booked and 3 breakfasts. I resisted making that many reservations yet I think that we will be better off having a plan and with this we can plan our days knowing when and where we are eating. We will also have and excuse to visit different resorts and parks.

We leave in 40 days

40 days and counting! Congratulations!

We find that eating is always an excellent excuse to visit resorts. Glad to hear your last ADR is done; now it's a waiting game mickey

Hi,

I like House of Blues, but not its jambalaya. Too hot. I ate there on December 6, 2003 after La Nouba, and was no match for its hot peppers. My mouth was on fire and I wound up hyperventilating with tomatoes and milk. I didn't eat much of the jambalaya. HOB took it off my bill, and two young women took pity on me and paid it.

You need to come spend some time in Texas! We'll prep you for that kind of heat!

We're finally going to try HoB on Mother's Day weekend. We're taking a day off from the Major Parks - doing Typhoon Lagoon during the day, then DTD, HoB, a movie & Ghiridellis that night.

I'm really looking forward to it. The menu looks good & I love some good blues.

That sounds like a really fun day, have you been to Ghiridelli before? I think I've only gotten hot cocoa there.

I can't wait for everyone's reviews. Does anyone know if you can buy tickets for shows there, or if you have to buy them in advance? Is it hard to get seating?

HOB in Cleveland and enjoyed the food and entertainment.

I am curious to hear how it is in Downtown Disney
