How do you feel about riding rides alone?

All the talk about the single ride line got me wondering..how many of you actually ride the thrill rides alone? I know Dave and I have always been thrill ride junkies..but some couples go while the other sits out because they aren't thrill ride people.
Since we are taking Holden this trip we won't be able to ride the thrill rides together. The idea of it makes me a little apprehensive to ride some of my favorites because I think I'd feel lonely...I suppose it's because it's not what I am used to.

How many of you typically ride "single rider" on most of the rides?? Do you find you ride the "thrill rides" more or less because of it?

I've never done any of the rides alone - but I think I would be lonely if I did, because like you, it's what I've always done when Joe and I go, and we both go on everything.

On the other hand, you won't be alone, because you'll be surrounded by everyone else on the ride who can help you share the thrill and excitement! biggrin

Hahaha that's a good way to stay optomistic!

I know we will do our favorites with FASTPASS, single rider or Baby Swap, because I can't imagine going to Disney and NOT riding Splash, TOT or Soarin!

I think I'd be lonely by association, too! We always ride together, so being without DH would be strange.

BUT, I've been considering a solo trip for a while now (when DH can't get away from work), so maybe I'll get to test the theory!

I tend to use my alone time to wander around and take pictures more than ride things. Although I could easily see myself relaxing in Spaceship Earth while waiting for DW.

I ride some of the real thrill rides alone just because Scrappy will not do them, although with the single rider lines, your not alone, they use you for fill in. Its great getting on something like Everest with someone that has never been on it before.

I've never had to do any WDW rides solo as we travel with friends who will go on anything Disney can throw at them. They are not so brave at the other park up the road though and I've had to go solo on a few rides there. The ride itself is fine, but if the queue is too long it can get a bit boring waiting.

I'm assuming those are IofA rides. I'm guessing Hulk and Dueling Dragons? Dueling Dragons is a bit with the motion sickness, but I think either is pretty tame overall.

I certainly don't mind riding alone, but sharing the experience is a lot of fun too.

That's what I'm worried about..the waiting in LINE alone. Dave can talk to wall..even if it doesn't talk back..but I keep to myself..I think I'd get lonely..but of course all this will not deter me from riding ToT thankyouverymuch!

Bella, I've always gone to Disney alone, so I always ride all the rides alone. I have a blast. Sometimes you have to fill in a row, so you'll be sitting with other people you don't know, but it's fine. As for waiting in line alone, I've never had to wait too long, and there's always interesting things to look at, if not interesting people to chat with while you wait.

Do you think people engage you in conversation more because you're solo?

I find that people approach me for conversation less at Disney World than other places (probably because of how much is going on at all times there and having to keep an eye on kids, etc.), but if I'm friendly with them, people tend to be friendly back. The secret is to look for adults traveling without kids. They aren't as distracted, are more relaxed, open to conversations.

Hi again!

I'm used to traveling alone; because I think that if I waited for someone to go with me, I'd never leave home. I would ride anything alone, and eat anywhere but V & A alone. I haven't been to WDW since joining WDWFG, but on my solo trips after 2000, I've ridden, and eaten meals with, friends from other WDW sites (specifically the DIS and Tagrel).

I think waiting in line is kind of fun -- you can eavesdrop on all the conversations going on around you! These days, too, you can just have social media, a book, or even a TV show on your smartphone and the time flies by.
