To accurately simulate a tornado, Universal Parks & Resorts entered talks with tornado meteorologists to discover the actual sights, sound, and feel of the experience. Universal originally planned to open the attraction in March, 1998; however, in the weeks just preceding, several large tornadoes occurred in central Florida, killing many people.Due to this,the opening was delayed until May 4, 1998.

This restaurant is a replica of Tony's which was the favorite dining spot of Lady and the Tramp. You'll find artwork based on this charming movie, a central fountain, and red and white checked tablecloths.

The smell of freshly baked cookies coming from the bakery on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom is an artificially created liquid and the scent is piped out of the bakery

The Plaza Restaurant is located at the end of Main Street, on the right hand side as you face the Castle. It is a "typical" turn of the century ice cream parlor restaurant. It's decorated in red and white, with marble-topped tables, iron work chairs, mirrors with gold and silver trim, waiters and waitresses in black pants, white shirts, and garters around the upper arm. The menu is mostly sandwiches (the Reuben is delicious) and ice cream deserts. Although plain, the food is very good, and the portions are huge.

The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is a great place to stop and get hand dipped ice cream, floats, and sundaes on Main Street USA, in the Magic Kingdom.

Come back down to Earth for a sweet treat: soft-serve cones, sundaes, floats made with soda or iced coffee, smoothies, muffins, fruit and fountain soft drinks. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and assorted cereals with milk are also available.

Located at the base of the Astro Orbiter attraction in Tomorrowland, The Lunching Pad serves up specialty hot dogs with flare. A Philly cheese steak hot dog, Reuben hot dog, and taco hot dog are featured. Sure to satisfy the appetites of both extra-terrestrial and earth dwelling guests, The Lunching Pad has outdoor seating only and can get quite busy during peak meal hours.

Sonny Eclipse's amazing Astro Organ keyboard has a mind of its own and will occasionally play itself without anyone's hands on the keys. Sonny purchased Astro second-hand; the pawn shop records indicate it was previously owned by a blue Ortolan jizz-wailer named Max Rebo, who claimed he sold it for a song (because once the Red Ball Jett organ came out, the Astro Organ just wasn't in demand).

390 DAYS ...
Once known as Enchanted Grove, the Cheshire Cafe in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland was rethemed and renamed in fall 2011 to better match the teacups right next door. The whimsical location's menu remains much the same, with cereal, muffins and fruit available, along with yummy slushes, strawberry punch, and other refreshing beverages.
