How Many Suitcases Do You Bring?

So, as both gas and airline fees continue to climb, I wonder: how many suitcases do you bring when you come to WDW? Have recent hikes in fees impacted your packing tendencies at all? Do you find that you bring comfort items that you just can't live without (favorite pillow or some other snuggly) - or do those get the boot to make room for more souvenirs?

Just curious. We're such cheapskates that if we had to fly, I could see DH making all of us where several layers of clothing just to minimize # of suitcases. sarcastic

Haha! Wearing several layers....that cracks me up!

We don't fly but we have a space issue in our car! Wink We usually bring one giant suitcase and a small suitcase and maybe a duffle!

I don't mean to hijack this thread but it's on the same vein. Has anyone ever used those space saver vacuum storage bags that you suck all the air out of, so as to compress the clothes thus enabling you to pack more. do they work? confused
I am thinking of getting and using some on our 2 (wife & I, 1 each) allowed suitcases.

Flying from the UK usually limits to one 20kg (44lb) case which doesn't leave much space for goodies to take home.

We have, they work, and that's flippin' brilliant! Although you still have to contend with the weight issue...

I like the idea, but how are you going to get it back? Dont they use a vacuum cleaner or something to suck it out? I know about them, but dont know how you suck the air out I guess?

As for the luggage... we have one huge one for my wife and I, and then another one for the kids, and take one other for random stuff that ends up with computers cameras or whatever is extra. And had another one with food that ends up with the stuff we bought and such on the way home.

Mase you are a DVC member so check in the closet and there is a vacuum cleaner in there that you can use. If you are not a DVC member all you have to do is ask mousekeeping and they will gladly supply one for you to use.

Well last time we cheched in, we had 14 items that got tags by the bell man, and filled an entire lugged cart. Hows that for packing. Coming home we usually have at least 4 more big mickey bags of stuff.

We don't fly..so we luck out in that department..because Dave and I are King & Queen Overpacker. This goes for just about everywhere we go not just Disney.

Side story....we went to the hospital to have my child..I not only brought everything on the list that they gave me but a hair straighter, curling iron, make-up and a DVD player. Apparently I thought I was going on a spa vacation or something. The nurses totally did not have to ask me if he was my first baby.

Regarding compression storage bags, there are varieties out there that do not require a vacuum!
Here's an example. . . http://www.globaltravelproducts.com.au/store/compression-storage-bags.html

Whenever my hubby and I fly were take our free one suitcase each, as well as one carryon.
We don't buy very much while we're there. Last time, we ordered a bunch of Disney Art and simply had it shipped to our home in Canada instead of contending with bringing it on a plane.

we take 1 checked bag each.. and my carry on is always fairly empty.. my brother has to bring his shoes on his carry on. But on the way back, I get to carry all the "stuff" (we've bought less and less each trip we've gone on) But when we stay at OKW, we do laundry so we dont pack as many clothes

I really need to check out Southwest! Now that they're joined at the hip with AirTran, I'm hoping that it will be easier (and that they'll rub off on AirTran w/ their "bags fly free" policy.)

MrHub and Bella - I feel you. I don't know how many trips DH had to make to the car the last time for our OVERNITE trip, but he was NOT a happy camper. "What?!" I said. "You have to be PREPARED!" It's the girl scout in me. Sigh.

Yeah Lizzy, when the bell hops see us driving up, they either run or start fighting over who is going to unload our car. Is it bad when you get to know your bell hop on a first name basis? I tip well though. Last trip to the Poly, when we were leaving, they backed our car in to the spot where the trucks unload coming from the airport to load our car up.

Ha! You're kidding, MrHub! So do you and scrappy each pack the same amount of stuff, or is one of you the culprit?

Only kidding about the first half, they did park our car there to load it!

I get 1/2 a bag and DW gets 1 1/2 bags. silly

Tony, how do you manage with just one bag for what I imagine are fairly long trips? Do you do a lot of laundry while you're there?

Never done laundry while on holiday, it takes up precious park time. By packing only what we really need for a two week trip it can be done quite easily.
