How often do you get over to a resort to eat?

I find that we do probably 75% of our dining in the resorts for exactly those reasons, and also we are usually gone from the parks by the time dinner rolls around
A lot! A lot of our favorites are at resorts. Not only that, eating at a resort for dinner is a great way for us to relax before heading back to the parks at night!
All. The. Time. We love resort restaurants and think they're often better quality than park restaurants (except Brown Derby, of course).

I have seen so much Brown Derby love on this forum..which surprises me because on the other forums it's generally considered overpriced & not very good. I may have to reconsider it!!
We probably eat at the resorts 3 or 4 times every trip. Yes Bella, if you're not on a meal plan, the Brown Derby is expensive, but I've been to plenty more expensive restaurants back here at home. I have never, every had a bad meal or a complaint about the BD though. The service has always been great.

Overall, I would agree about the BD, although for us, it's about 3 things: Cobb Salad, atmosphere, and tradition. We've been making a point to go there for a "real" Cobb Salad for years.
Here is a link about the "Cobb Salad" Bella. Its a very good salad & it was made famous at the Brown Derby by accident, but its a meal by it self.

Yes Lizzy, exactly the same way we feel, but we make it a point to go every time regardless. Its just classic! I also love, love the Blackened Grouper. That was the first thing I ever had there and have had it many times since. The only sad part about it is being on blood pressure meds, I can't have the grapefruit cake.
Is it really worth going there for a salad? What is on this salad?
I know, I suppose it sounds silly...but the BD invented it, and it's just fun - so old Hollywood, you know? And my favorite episode of "I Love Lucy" happens to be the one where she and Ethel are eating at the BD, and William Holden is in the next booth. It's hysterically funny.

OH - ! I'm so sorry. I know that grapefruit is bad for interacting with meds. But I'll try the grouper. Thanks for the tip!
Hi,
I have never eaten at the Brown Derby, but I have eaten at many of the resort restaurants. Of those, I have eaten at AKL's Boma most often, for breakfast and dinner. I think the only resort restaurants I haven't tried are Citricos and V & A's in the Grand Floridian; Flying Fish Cafe @ Boardwalk Inn; the Mayan Grill @ CBR; Artist's Palette @ SSR; and any restaurant that has opened after 2007.
Jim
Jim, have you done all the restaurants at Old Key West? We haven't done almost any of those.
@ cdub: Just Olivia's Cafe, after the Yuletide Fantasy Tour, on December 9, 2003. I don't remember what I had.

Yuletide Fantasy Tour?!?! Am I the only one who's not familiar with this?
