I don't need a hopper for this, right?

When I go in Feb for Tink, I'm going to a conference the following Wed-Fri. That means I've got all day Tuesday to kill, so I'm thinking instead of adding to my Disney ticket, I will go to Universal. So there's one day - maybe not a full day...I think I'll be getting breakfast at Kouzzina before going anywhere. Wink

The conference goes until 5 on Wed and Thurs, and Universal only stays open until 7. So I'm thinking I'll get a 3-day pass, without hopper. Do Islands of Adventure/HP on Tuesday and then Studios the other two days from 5-7. Is that doable? Or should I just park hop on Tuesday? Would I be able to see both parks? I'm thinking City Walk will be enough to entertain me the rest of the evenings...although maybe I'll be hanging out at the hotel?

Thanks for your input! It's been a LONG time since I've done anything other than Disney in Florida! Smile

I know! Hard to keep them all straight! My friends talked me into doing Dumbo with the in August so it looks like the runDisney insanity is contagious!

And now back to your original question....

Let me see whether I understand this...You'll be in Florida all week? The race is the weekend preceding all this Universal stuff and you have a Disney pass for that weekend and Monday? Then you've got all day Tuesday free and then evenings after the conference Wednesday through Friday?

I would not pay for a park day if I knew I could only spend a couple of hours at the park, even considering that a three-day Universal pass is not that much more expensive than a single-day pass. What if you get held up at the conference or are otherwise delayed? You might pay for a park day and never get there at all, or only have an hour between arrival and park closing. IMO it's not worth the risk. I think you'd have a better chance of seeing both parks with a single-day park-hopper.

Yes, you've got it right! It's a very confusing itinerary!

I didn't even think about not getting over there. Hmm...maybe just a one day hopper, then. I'll have to get over there earlier than I planned, then. Can I add days once I get there, if I don't get to everything?

I have no idea whether you can add days, I've never tried it. But I would imagine that if you add the extra days BEFORE YOUR FIRST DAY IS OVER you would get the price of a two- or three-day ticket. Ask when you arrive to be sure.

And yes - skip that Kouzzina breakfast on Tuesday and grab something at the park.

Personally, I can visit both Universal parks in one day. The only busiest rides are Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Spider Man in IOA, and possibly Hulk. The most wait I've seen in this time of year is 45mins, maybe an hour.... But as this is considered low season, I doubt it'll be longer than 45mins. In USF, Rip Ride Rockit and Transformers get the most wait these days... Honestly, I've done many USF attractions in three hours and spent the rest at IOA.
Also I believe, if you go to Guest Services, you can upgrade your ticket.

My advice to you is if you can get to IOA when park opens, run to Hogsmeade and get Potter out of the way. The rest will be a breeze. One time, I visited Universal in January 2011 (this was before I worked for the Park), and spent 8 hours in Potter and took two-three hours to do the rest of the park... So hum... yeah! But I am a Potter freak so lol.

I'm also not quite sure I've got the itinerary down and I don't know if this is helpful of not, but are you aware that Disney offers convention tickets:

Disney Convention Tickets

I used these in May for a conference that I attended. They're a little more work because someone will call you to verify the name of the conference and they check to make sure it's legit. We had to pick up our tickets at will-call, but that might have been our only option because we didn't buy them until like 2 days before we left.

Maybe if you got "after 2pm" or "after 4pm" admission to Disney on your conference days, you could free up an additional full day at Universal?

Or maybe Universal does something similar? Depending on how your conference is set up, they may have arrangements with one or both parks to allow you to buy special tickets through the conference.

Not sure if any of these apply, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case!

Does it have to be a conference at Disney? The one I'm going to is at a hotel right at Universal. But these are definitely cheaper than even Undercover Tourist, if I were able to get them that way. They won't know I'm coming for Princess, right?

OMG This is so awesome to hear! I have a national conference I'm attending at Disneyland in September and I was wondering about how I was going to manage time in the parks without having to buy full tickets on conference days. Now I can start planning a little better!
