I Guess I'll Start Here - Hi!

Hello everyone!

I am excited to find a site dedicated to adults who love Disney, not just because their kids love Disney. My husband and I get questions and weird looks from our friends and family when we, two adults with no kids, CHOOSE to go to Walt Disney World for our vacation or go on a(nother!) Disney cruise. They give us weird looks when we explain that we joined not just a timeshare, but Disney Vacation Club. If we had a penny for every time we heard, "But you don't have kids," in reference to something Disney-related that we have done or bought we could probably buy admission to WDW for the world's population.

Not quite sure what's where on here, but poking my way around to learn the layout.

Looking forward to sharing my Disney addiction with fellow Disney-loving-adults who "get it."

Welcome! When is your next trip planned? More importantly where do you like to eat? Disney dining is a popular topic around these parts.

Welcome! You've come to the right place to talk Disney with fun and slightly obsessed adults! Can't wait to hear about your next trip. What is your DVC home resort?

Hi Dreams and Welcome! clapping clapping clapping

We're quite used to those weird looks ourselves - but the joke is on them because we have an absolute blast at WDW! So there!

You will be right at home here. We are bona fide addicts and enablers. And proud of it! awesome

welcome We are glad you are here! I love those looks. My husband and I have children but people usually say "You are going to Disney. Why would you want to do that to yourself?" When we can't think of a better gift for ourselves and each other than paying off another Disney vacation. Stealing from the Jeep company "Its a Disney thing you wouldn't understand" is usually how we respond to people. My parents think we are spoiling our kids but in reality we are spoiling ourselves. So any way I totally get what you are saying. I can't wait to hear about your next trip!

mickey I'm learning the ropes here too. Smile My husband and I will continue to go to WDW even when our kids don't. They are now 25 and 21. We often get looks when asked about our vacation plans....."you're going there AGAIN?!" Some people don't get it, and I'm sad for them. We're in the stage of our lives now where we're enjoying EVERYTHING else WDW has to offer and we're loving it.

Welcome 2Dizney.

I am fortunate that I haven't experienced the "you're going there again" looks. I work with a lot of Disney lovers so it's nice to discuss our plans. Last year when I went two others from work were there at the same time. One other person went a month before and another person was there a couple of months before I went. In 2010, I know of 5 other people from work who went a various times during the year.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

Let's see if I can answer everyone's questions at once

yeah

We don't currently have a WDW trip planned eek , but there is talk about one in the works. clapping That's the beauty of DVC points. There's always a Disney trip somewhere in the future. That leads me to another question that was asked. We own at Animal Kingdom Villas. Why AKV? Well, waterfront views are gorgeous, beaches are fun, but there is nowhere else in the world that I know of where I can open my curtains in the morning and see a giraffe! And ankoli cattle. And well, you get the idea. It's just an incredible place and we love it. So -- we bought a part of it. The hope is to go this Fall, maybe pair it with a short cruise. We were supposed to return "home" last May, but, well... the free air miles that were to get us to WDW instead got us to Vancouver for a last-minute Alaskan cruise via DCL. Which leads to the next question...

We LOVE DCL! There's not much more to say on that. We've done Alaska, the Bahamas, and Mexico with DCL. If any of you have ever wondered if two adults with no kids can have fun on a Disney Cruise, I'm here to tell you, absolutely! We LOVE DCL! Yep, that just about sums that up.

As for our last trip: We went to WDW in October of 2010 for our 12th wedding anniversary. We were supposed to do a split stay at AKL Concierge and POR. We weren't super excited about POR, but we booked last minute and it was the only place we could get for our dates. Upon checking out of AKL C., we got in a discussion with someone involved with DVC (though we didn't know it at the time). He asked why we were moving to POR for the second half of our stay. We told him we couldn't get a room here (AKL) for our entire visit. He made a phone call and then offered us three nights at an Animal Kingdom VILLA for the price of our stay at POR. We took it! Loved it! And, yeah, bought DVC AKV on our cruise four days later. (You'd almost think he knew what he was doing with that kind offer.... sarcastic )

Yes, we get into Disney trouble any chance we can... all without kids.

As for dining... hmmm.. we love Cinderella's Royal Table. My husband loves Le Cellier and I think the ambiance at The Coral Reef is just fantastic. Or course there are so many places at WDW that we don't know and would love to learn about... and then try!

We are Disneyland regulars and know every nook, trick, and secret. WDW --- we are tourists, proudly referencing maps, lists, and, well, message board tips.

So, let's see, I think that just about covers it. Oooh, I almost forgot. Pins! Disneyland pins, DCL pins, DVC pins! I started with a gift of one and now have more than I want to count. LOVE the pins!

Thanks again for the nice welcome. Now to learn how everything is organized here...

We're going on the Fantasy for our honeymoon. So glad that we're not the only childless couple who will go on a Disney Cruise.

Hmm... surprised? Wow, that's a tough question. I'm not sure... thinking.... It was odd to us how some shows are on some days, others on different days, as opposed to just being M-Th or weekends only or every day. That took some careful planning to make sure not to miss something that we wanted to see. How about you?

Oooh, the new ship! Lucky you! Early congrats! When we were on the Wonder in October a few of the cast and crew we got to know were moving to the Fantasy. So exciting for you! One day.... wink

Welcome! Wow! It sounds like you really know your way around! When you go to DL, are they daytrips, or do you stay in one of the DL hotels? What are your fave food spots out there? I'd love to make it out there one day.

Yeah, we usually get lots of weird looks too (or maybe it's just I look weird laugh ). We went on our first kid free vacation to the world last September and we loved it. So we are heading back in May. yay

I always read this blog in my blog reader but didn't realize there was a forum too. I will have to poke around and see what kind of trouble I can get into. wink
