Yes, SciFi is the one with the cars. I think Prime Time is like a 1950's kitchen and the waitress is your "Mom".

The theme is you are sitting in a 50's kitchen. You are usually sitting at a table with a small tv in the corner that is playing old sitcoms. "Mom" is in the kitchen cooking your meal. "Cousins" are serving you. You had better mind your manners and eat all your veggies when dinning there.

Sounds like it could be fun for the kids but I think they might get a kick out of sitting in the cars as well... Does anyone have anything to say good, bad, or indifferent about sci fi?

I like them both. With just the two of us I would rather do the Sci-Fi. I also would rather have a burger at this type of place and it looks like 50's Prime Time has changed their menu and no longer has one. The kids would enjoy either one though.

Just remember that the cars have a front seat and a rear seat and you could possibly be seated in the car with someone that you do not know occupying the other seat. When we last went we were seated in the rear of the car and the family in the front seat had a couple of rug-rats and ankle biters with them and they spent the whole time standing on the seats looking back at us and a couple of times I swear they were going to reach into our plates to get something, with very very little intervention from the parents. Never again.

I know your not saying this about us in particular but I control my kids in public... I hate it when parents don't though. But there will be 7 of us.... Would 7 people just fit in one seat.. I figured we would probably take up the whole car front and back

I like both 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi.

Here's a picture of 50's Prime Time

At Sci-Fi, they also have tables where you sit facing each other rather than having someone in the front seat and someone in the back seat. There are two tables together (not connected so two parties can be sitting together). The front of the car is attached to the front table and the rear of the car is attached to the end of the second table. The picture is dark but should give you an idea of what I'm talking about. You can request these tables so you can be together. With 7 people, you would need three seats of the other tables.

My kids liked both Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi. At Sci-Fi they give the kids a driver's license since they are sitting in cars. With us my son and I sat in the front of the car and my husband and daughter sat in the back. But it was well worth it for them to have that drive in experience. At prime time there are a lot of fun antics sometimes kids help set the table. People get put in the corner for bad behavior, fun things like that. Our kids got stickers stating they were part of the "Clean Plate Club." There are little so they get a big kick out of things like that. Prime Time is fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, mashed potatoes type food. Sci-Fi is hamburgers, Reuben, and other things like that. They both have yummy milkshakes. I would happily go to either one.

It looks like you're avoiding signature dining. Keep in mind, if you're using Tables in Wonderland, this is the perfect time to try signature restaurants. Flying Fish, Citricos, Jiko, Brown Derby, not that much more expensive than non-signature in the long run.

As far as what's on your list above, Sanaa and Via Napoli are absolutely the leaders for me. The Wave is close behind. Kona is pretty good, great apps. Tony's is canned Italian and Raglan Road gives me a headache. Biergarten is fine but very heavy. Liberty Tree, 50's, and Whispering Canyon are just basic comfort food, nothing special.

I would do biergarten, liberty tree tavern, and sanaa.

I personally don't like sci fi diner...i'll momentarily pause while some pick their jaws up off their keyboards. Smile Everytime i've eaten there, i have left queasy. It's greasy and...well i'm really not sure, but it always makes me feel green. That being said, the atmosphere is awesome.

You can use your TIW card for any alcohol you get.

Are you saying that's how it works with the DDP? We don't really drink alcohol though

From what I hear yes, you can use your TIW card for anything above and beyond what DDP does not cover and get that discount (20 percent). Please someone that has TIW chime in if I'm wrong.

Correct. You could use TIW for alcoholic beverages and appetizers, not covered by regular DDP.

Wouldnt that almost be a case of overkill? I mean unless you plan on going on a binge I guess...

Not really. 20% is 20% and a decent bottle of wine at most restaurants is around $60. In all honesty, the TIW card mostly just covers the tip in the long run

Basically, you'll get three checks, one with your "covered" items (that your DDP covers), one with your non-covered items (for viewing purposes only), and one that your responsible for which will include the 20% discount PLUS an 18% gratuity.

Now, here's where it gets tricky. TIW's policy is that an 18% gratuity is added for the items that get the discount, however, a lot of servers think that means they get to add gratuity to the entire check including DDP items. So, once you whip out the TIW card, check the "gratuity section" closely so you don't tip twice.

I guess to me it depends on how much TIW costs. I know it will take care of the tip pretty much (at least for us it will because we have a party of 6). But id guess I would have to sit down and do the math and see how much it would save if you use both.

Jess, Kona and Ohana are not very similar at all. I do not think you would feel as though you were eating the same meal at all. I would say that the luau and Ohana are a lot more similar as far as the food goes. Kona has really good food but it is just a restaurant. There is no show, and it is not family style serving.
We like both 50's Prime Time and Tonys. The 50's Prime Time reminds me of diner food. To me this is not a bad thing. I happen to like diner food. It is a fun meal. We both really like Tonys too. I know some ar not fans of Tonys but we have been very happy with it the last few years. Neither are signature dinning but then again they are not trying to be.

Thanks... What is prime time cafe themed like... That's not the place where you sit in the cars is it? That's sci fi right?

prime time is a 50's style diner like place that serves all the classics like fried chicken and meat loaf , pot roast and also salads and sandwiches, bonus is they also have a full bar. the servers get into the theme, they call you cousin ma cookin in the kitchen, don't put your elbow's on the table mind your manners and clean your plate or there is no dessert. it is a fun place and i think the food is good. i would suggest it

Really hard to pick just three but gotta say, 50s Prime Time Diner- For the fried Chicken and greens there awesome and the amazing milkshakes. The servers there are really fun and get into character so well. Sci-Fi Diner, amazing atmosphere, BLT soup and of course the Vanilla Coke. Last but not least, Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. The turkey dinner served 'family style' so tasty. Just as I'm finishing this, my head is saying "You fool, what about Planet Hollywood, Chef Mickeys or Tusker House".

Flying Fish, Jiko, and the third one would be a tough pick for me between Kouzzina and California Grill.

Yeah we don't drink alcohol...and we always have an 18% gratuity because we are a party of 6....And we never get anything that's not on the DDP so it wouldn't be worth it for us to use it with the DDP because it wouldn't take anything off.

I would have to say
1. San Angel Inn (atmosphere)
2. Le Cellier (cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread, and chocolate "moose"...need I say more?)
3.Wolfgang Puck @ DtD
