If you could only have three table service meals during your trip what would the be?

So for our upcoming trip in November my father in law doesn't want to do the dining plan this year. He wants to try Tables in Wonderland instead. So since we aren't doing the dining plan we can only do 3 table service meals instead of 5. At first I was upset because that's one of my favorite parts of the trip is the food. But then I thought about it and it will give us a chance to try some of the quick services places we have never ate at. So if you could only do three table service meals for your whole trip which three would you choose and why?

Wow, I would have a very hard time only doing 3 total. But if that is how it had to be I would go with one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner. Breakfast would be Cape May Cafe because the food is good and it is not crazy with kids even though it is a character meal. Lunch would be Liberty Tree Tavern. The only reason I can give you for this is because right at this moment it is the one I would choose. Dinner would be California Grill. If signature dinning was out I would change that to the Turf Club. Their food is amazing, it is easy to get in, and it is rarely ever super crowded. I would probably change my mind about the 3 meals a hundred times before the trip though.

Hmm...personally I find quick service to be enough for me at breakfast and lunch, so I'd use my ADRs for dinner. My top three choices would be California Grill, Kona Cafe and maybe something fun like Whispering Canyon or 50's Prime time cafe. Of course, I like Restaurant Marrakesh too....boy this is tougher than I thought. wink

Breakfast at Cape May Cafe because it's my favorite breakfast buffet, there's fantastic food and it has characters with no rush to eat and leave like at Mickey's.

Dinner at California Grill because the food is fantastic and for me it holds an iconic Disney dining experience.

Finally I think I would pick Dinner at Ohana, because even though I've only eaten there once I thought it was fun and fantastic while full of Aloha!

Yeah... I think if I ate at those spots, I'd go home pretty dern happy.

I guess I should have said in the opening post that they would all be for dinner....We don't eat breakfast in the restaurants and lunch is always quick serve....Also something i forgot to add....Would you eat at places you had before or try something new and take the risk of it not being good.

Oh my gosh, Disney has some great Breakfast spots! I might freak out a bit if I had to give them up!

So, my alternate choice for dinner would probably be someplace that I hadn't tried before. Smile

With only having 3 meals I would not try something new. I would then go with California Grill, the Turf Club and probably Kona Cafe. Again I bet I would change my mind a bunch of times.

CAPE MAY CAFE - (Dinner) Their "Clam Bake" is awesome!!! We pig out on the snow crab legs. All you can eat buffet.

LIBERTY TREE TAVERN - (Lunch or Dinner) Love T-Day food! Never get enough turkey and mashed potatoes.

ROSE AND CROWN PUB - Lunch or Dinner) Best Fish N Chips ever!!!

We only eat breakfast on the last day and that's at the Disney Resort Hotel we are staying at. Otherwise we eat something quick in our rooms.

If we couldn't get those:

RAGLAN ROAD - (Lunch or Dinner) Fish N Chips are pretty darn good! DTD restaurant.

Three Dinners . . . I'd go where I'd been before. Nothing is as much of a drag as trying that new place (or three) and coming up with nothing special or something frightening.

California Grill (for sure)

Jiko or Sanaa

Artist Point or Citrico's

We took some advice last time and tried Marrakesh and LeCellier. Both were disappointing. If these had been our dinners for whole trip, we'd still be stomping and pouting.

Very simple, very easy.
#1 Shula's In the Dolphin Hotel, Yeah! Yeah! it's still in WDW.
#2 Turf Club Bar & Grille at SSR.
#3 Ohana at the Poly.

The other thing she forgot to mention....

One is taken up already and that Ohana... the second one may already be taken up because as soon as reservations can be made at Beasts Castle... were going to try to book it... so yeah... in a way two... but one of those two could easily turn in to Beasts Castle.

This is so hard confused We have 15 adrs for our next trip and still have some open lunches, yeah we go with the deluxe dining plan, so I would choose your 3 favorite restaurants. For me that would be Artist Point, Kona Cafe, and San Angel Inn. But then again I couldn't just go with three.

Everyones' responses are making me feel good that I made wise choices for ADR's for my July trip with my girlfriend lol. I haven't been to WDW since 2004, and I don't really remember that much. I remember eating at 50's Primetime, Tony's at MK, and Chefs de France (or Bistro..not sure which). A lot of your choices involve Ohana and Cape May Cafe. I'm looking forward to those!!

For y'all, I'd say Shula's, Ohana, and Liberty Tree Tavern. I think that is a good mix. Hmmm...for me, I'd say Citrico's (because I haven't been), Artist Point (because I need to go back) and the Chefs de France (upstairs - haven't been.)

Oh, gosh...I need to plan some Disney meals soon... mickey

Well my inlaws said we could pick all three of the meals, that they would go whereever... So basically hubby was going to choose one (which his choice is ohana), I was going to choose one, and we were thinking about letting Evan choose one. Also my mom might be going with us this year. It will be her first time being there since I was a kid so I was going to let her look at the menus and pick some places and I might make my pick from those

Our top two are Bluezoo and Il Mulino. More adult atmosphere, good food, and excellent service(never been to Shula's). Top 3 Disney Resort signatures in order: Citricos, Flying Fish, and Jiko........definitely try something new. Have fun!

Mine would be California Grill, Flying Fish, and Turf Club. awesome I think those 3 have been where I have had the 3 best meals I have ever eaten in the entire park. If Fulton's had not changed they would be in there somewhere, but alas, they are no longer in the running. sad

Ok so let's see what I can say to the places suggested

Turf Club- don't really see anything on the menu that is calling my name

California Grill- I don't think we ever plan on doing any signature dining...at least not with the little ones and not thrilled about it having a dress code cause we usually don't go back to the park before dinner and with that we would have to go back and freshen up

Kona Cafe- this one sounds yummy but since we are going to be eating at Ohana...don't know if we want two meals at the Poly

Whispering Canyon- did this one last year but we did really like it....the only downside to the meal was that it did take a really long time....don't know if that was a fluke or if that's always how it is

50's Prime Time Cafe- It is a definate option...there are things on the menu we all like and we haven't ate there before...I did as a kid but haven't since then.....But I think i've also heard people say the food's not the greatest...can anyone verify this

Restaurant Marrakesh- we don't like this type of food so this one is out

Chefs de France- nothing really on the menu that sounds appealing

Wolfgang Puck- we ate here last time and really liked it...we did it for lunch though and if we ate there again it would probably be for lunch as well

Mama Melrose- ate here last year and I really liked it...hubby didn't love it and I agreed that it was essentially just like alot of the italian restaurants here at home...it didn't really have that disney magic

Le Cellier- this one is out just for the fact that it is so hard to get into and lately we've heard nothing but bad things about it

The Wave- we ate here the first year...I didn't love it but everyone else did....but upon looking at the menu again I think i might be willing to give it another try

Cape May Cafe- I am not a seafood person so looking at this menu there I don't think it would be worth the price for me to just eat salad...although Evan would love all you can eat crab legs

Liberty Tree Tavern- we have never ate here before but it has things we all like....it would just be a matter of if everyone would be in the mood for Thanksgiving dinner since we will be going right after Thanksgiving

Rose and Crown- I dont know if it's just me but there is just something about everything on the menu that just doesn't sit well with me ( no offense to any of the members on the board who are from England)

Raglan Road- this could be an option...we've never ate here before

Jiko- Once again don't want to do Signature Dining

Sanaa- We ate here two years ago and it was good...Could do it again

Citrico's- signature dining so it's out

Artist Point- signature dining so it's out

Shula's- signature dining so its out

Ohana- This is Mase's pick so we will be going here

Biergarten- never eaten here but this could be an option

San Angel Inn- ate here in 2010 and was deathly ill afterwards so that makes me not want to try it again

Tony's- Never ate here either but we like italian and the atmosphere might be fun for the kids

Via Napoli- Never ate here but we like italian so this could be an option to

Boma- liked it but we did it the past two years in a row so I think we all want to take some time off from it

Blue zoo- signature so its out

Il Muliano- signature so it's out

Flying Fish- signature so it's out

Teppan Edo- we've done this two years in a row...we love it but might want to take a break from it

Tusker house- it looks good but I don't think there is much there for Mase to eat

Brown Derby- since we aren't doing the dining plan..trying not to do anything that has three dollar signs...lol

Alright so from all that that i typed up....and you guys might not of cared...lol...here's a list so far

1. Kona cafe
2. Whispering Canyon
3. 50's Prime time cafe
4. The Wave
5. Liberty Tree Tavern
6. Raglan Road
7. Sanaa
8. Biergarten
9. Tony's
10. Via Napoli

So scrappy...question....is Kona Cafe and Ohana very similar?

Also anyone feel free to suggest more....I'm also waiting to see what my mom wants to eat so once she gets me the list i'll probably come here for those opinions as well

Jess, Kona and Ohana are not very similar at all. I do not think you would feel as though you were eating the same meal at all. I would say that the luau and Ohana are a lot more similar as far as the food goes. Kona has really good food but it is just a restaurant. There is no show, and it is not family style serving.
We like both 50's Prime Time and Tonys. The 50's Prime Time reminds me of diner food. To me this is not a bad thing. I happen to like diner food. It is a fun meal. We both really like Tonys too. I know some ar not fans of Tonys but we have been very happy with it the last few years. Neither are signature dinning but then again they are not trying to be.

We like 50's and Tony's also. Also agree that Kona is not like Ohana. We try to eat at completely different restaurants every trip so definitely try somewhere you have not been.

I'm not a Tony's fan, we just didn't have a good experience. My daughter's chicken was burnt (picture below), and I like things cooked with sauce, not sauced afterwards. I feel that the food is a little dry because of how they cook it. My husband would probably tell you that I like to be hit over the head with oregano, and that's why I didn't like it. Things were spiced very mildly, so if you prefer subtle flavor, then this could be a great place for you. I will say that the service was good, atmosphere charming, and dessert was fantastic there. Smile

Why Not to eat at Tony's

I agree 100% with what Scrappy said about Kona & Ohana. Kona has really good food, but it is just a restaurant. There isn't much pizzazz unless you just love being at the Polynesian in general. Breakfast is Kona's "wow" meal in my opinion.

Thanks... What is prime time cafe themed like... That's not the place where you sit in the cars is it? That's sci fi right?
