Thanks for the warm welcome backs everyone!!

No trips planned for the Spring/Summer. DH and I have been working really hard on our "get debt-free" plan and we're on target to be able to take a FABULOUS vacation in December of this year.

I'm thinking nice long Disney vacation with maybe a Disney cruise sprinkled on for a little "pixie dust"!

We've been working really hard and sacrificing to free ourselves of any and ALL debt. Our incentive is to take a luxurious vacation as a reward...all paid for in CASH!

We've never stayed in one of the Deluxe resorts and I'm leaning toward AKL or the Poly...I'm thinking Poly but I think DH is leaning toward AKL. Guess we'll have to arm-wrestle!! Actually either one is fine with me...I just love the garden environment at the Poly being the plant-nut that I am.

I'll have lots of fun planning the trip and the anticipation is definitely part of the fun!

I've never stayed in the Poly and have always wanted to, but I LOVE the AKL and it's usually MUCH less expensive. It's kind of a drag to be so far away from everything but the resort itself is magnificent. If you do Poly I'll be really jealous, though!

If it's your money I'd pick the Poly, if it's mine I'd probably pick the AKL.

Congrats on working to be debt free! That's awesome ! And that vacation will be even sweeter when you know how hard you worked to earn it.

Hmm...AKL or Poly...I'll go for either one!

Thanks a bunch Admin, we are MOTIVATED!! Four more car payments and then we move on to the dreaded student loan!! We're doing the debt-snowball thing, dumping all the cash we can find on debts. We can't wait to owe NOTHING to NO ONE!!! You sure are right that vacation is going to be SWEET!!

Woo! A lot of people mean credit cards when they say debt-free. Cars and student loans is a huge accomplishment! What about mortgage? (If it's not rude to ask)

We are currently renting and will be saving up for a downpayment on a modest home. We certainly don't want to be "house poor" after we've worked so hard to get out of debt. The goal is to save up about 50% down, take out a 15 yr fixed rate mtg and work really hard to have it paid off in about 5 years. It's doable but will require discipline

With the real estate prices in Orlando right now, we're wishing we had a spare
$50K laying around to pick up a steal of a condo.
