It's been a long time since I went to WDW

As some of you may know from my introduction I haven't been to Disney World since I was about 7 or 8 (I am now 25). I keep finding out such disappointing things. I already knew that "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" and "Honey I Shrunk The Audience" had closed, but just now I found out "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" has also been closed down! sad Are the rides that replaced them just as good? I have no idea what took Honey's place but I do know "The Seas With Nemo & Friends" and "The Winnie The Pooh Ride" took the place of the other 2. I wish I remembered more from my trip but it seems everything I do remember enjoying has been shut down. Somethings I also remember is taking a tram and going by the Golden Girls house. I also remember a ride where when you looked at the ceiling at one point the alien from "Alien" was looking down at you. Are they still there? Sorry If I am asking a lot just curious Smile

P.S. I am going in November 2014, is it too cold during that time in Florida to visit the Water Parks? Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure The Seas with Nemo and Friends did NOT replace 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, although you are correct that 20,000 Leagues is gone. As for whether the new rides are as good or better than the old rides, that's a subjective thing. I, for one, thought the Enchanted Tiki Birds Under New Management was better than the original show, but plenty disagree with me.

The Great Movie Ride is still there - that's where you saw Alien. The Backlot Tour is probably where you rode past the Golden Girls house - I don't think the house is still there, but the ride is.

But even if your childhood favorites are gone, there are plenty of new and amazing attractions that you will love!

As for whether November is warm enough for water parks, that depends on the weather when you're there as well as what you consider warm or cold. If you're from the northern U.S. or Canada, November at the water parks will probably be fine unless the weather is unusually chilly when you visit. If you're from the deep South, maybe not unless Florida is having unusually warm weather while you're there. I went in November two years ago and thought it was a little cool but not too cold at all.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea wasn't replaced, it is just simply gone. One of my biggest Disney regrets is having never riden it. Honey I Shrunk The Audience was replaced by the attraction it replaced, Captain Eo. While the Honey ride was good for it's own merit, I do perfer remembering all that was good about Micahel Jackson on Captain Eo, before his life got out of control. It is one replacement I don't mind.

Alot of us miss many of our favorite rides growing up which are no longer around, but I always find so much to do and there are many new rides which are incredibly awesome - and the classics which are still around are great as well. You'll have a great time...believe me. This forum is great to get ideas about things to do at the World and all of the trip reports are super informative. Have fun learning about all of the rides and attractions that are at the World now, and before you know it you'll be super excited to try out the new attractions and you'll make wonderful memories.

Oh I am sorry, I just assumed for some reason that it replaced it but I should have known. Nemo wasn't even out when it closed down. I can't believe they took away the Golden Girls house.

Actually, they just filled in the area were 20,000 Leagues was and made a meet & great area for characters. That same area is now part of the new Fantasy Land.

DisneyLAND is where Nemo Replaced 20,000 Leagues, so you weren't that far off. You may have heard something at some point about it and that stuck in your memory. At Walt Disney World 'The Seas with Nemo and Friends' is in Epcot, and replaces 'The Living Seas.'

Was the Alien ride you remember the "ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter"? That one closed in 2003 and was replaced with "Stitches Great Escape", most people aren't too fond of the Stitch version.

I think that we've all mourned the loss of one attraction or another, but by tat same token there's always something new and magical to discover. I don't think you'll be disappointed. There will be a whole new Fantasyland waiting for you to explore by then.

As for the weather, I agree with crazycatperson, it depends on what type of weather you are most used to. I will swim at the hotel pool in November, but I'm not sure I would spend a whole day at a water park.

Oh, you'll have such a wonderful time making NEW memories with all of the fantastic stuff that's there now!! And you'll likely have flashbacks of things you didn't even know you saw when you were a kid. You'll be like, "Holy Moly...I stood right here when I was 7!"
