It's a Pre-trip Trip Report! Xmas at Disney

Merry Christmas and happy all the holidays everyone!!!!

Joe, Blondie and I will be headed to sunny (and hopefully somewhat cool) Florida in 9 short days!!! It's single digit dance day!!!!!

yeah banana

We were booked at Jambo house for the first time but since they still don't have anything open for food, I switched us over to Saratoga Springs. We have a couple dinners at Disney Springs and thought it would be MUCH easier to walk over than drive with how crazy DS has been.

This is our plans so far.

Tuesday
Breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe
Magic Kingdom. We don't have any lunch or dinner plans and will just play it by ear.

Wednesday
Animal Kingdom No plans, will have Satu'li Canteen for late lunch early dinner
Terralina Crafted Italian with some friends that live in the area. (First time eating here) They have a house up in the mountains that they kindly let us use quite often so we are treating them to dinner while we are there.

Thursday
Epcot
Lunch at Rose & Crown, this will be our first time eating here.
Night of a Million Lights at Give Kids the World. If you don't know anything about this location, I encourage you to check them out. Since COVID has closed them down, they have covered every building in lights (3 million donated by Disney) to help raise money. I am so excited about this. Our friends who are going to dinner with us are meeting us there too.

Friday Christmas
Hollywood Studios Going to hope for a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance but we've rode it no no hurt feelings if we don't get it. We will just mobile order something this day, no ADR as of now
Either Boathouse or Wine Bar George for dinner. I have both booked and can't decide which one. Thoughts???

Saturday Animal Kingdom
Again, no plans, just going to take it easy. I know there will be a Nomad Lounge drink in there somewhere.

Sunday Check out

I plan on just taking it easy as we can, riding what we can and eating and drinking lots of holiday treats.

Will keep you all posted and updated as we go.

Sounds like a good plan with some special things! I look forward to hearing more about it and seeing your pictures when you return! Are you nervous about traveling right now at all?

Also... Wine Bar George!

Only thing that is making me nervous is Disney Springs. They don't seem to follow the same protocols as the parks. No real social distancing and tables not spread out. So we shall see. We've felt safe on all the other trips. Much better than being home. Things aren't as strict here.

I felt safe when I was there in September. The case numbers are getting so high now I've kind of closed myself off in my house and only go out for groceries once a week. I had a trip to Seattle scheduled for early January and I just pushed that back to late March. I might go to Disney if I were driving. It's that in between traveling (buses, airports) that I don't trust right now

We survived day one!!!

We got to the Grand Floridian a little after 9 so we spent some time exploring a nearly empty lobby waiting to check in for breakfast. We were seated just a few minutes after out ADR time.

We had a window seat in the back of the restaurant and a wonderful server named Robert. First things first I ordered a Grand Mimosa. A good old mimosa but with a splash of Grand Marnier and in a hurricane glass instead of a champagne glass. YUM! We also got a plate of biscuits with regular and citrus butter. I ordered steak and eggs, Joe got Chicken and Waffles and Blondie got a Mickey Waffle. Every single thing was fantastic!!! I was hesitant when I got my plate and had a square pile of eggs but they were cooked exactly how I requested and were so fluffy! The Chicken and Waffles (which aren't on the menu) were outstanding!

We hopped on the monorail and headed to MK after. Yes, we stayed parked at the resort but the lot wasn't even near full so I didn't feel bad about it laugh We rode Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates. All of the lines had MUCH MUCH shorter wait times than posted. BTM showed 80 minutes and we were on a train in 30! eek We had some snacks, watched some cavalcades then headed out. We were all really tired. I am sad I didn't see the park at night all decked out for Christmas but I just couldn't wait around another couple of hours.

We took the new walkway back to the GF, which is hard to find. There is a sign that points left but you go right down to the boat launch for Wilderness Lodge and around the corner THEN you see the sign. It didn't take long. There are lots of benches along the way. We saw a deer and it would be a great spot to catch the sunset.

We headed right to Saratoga Springs. We are in the Grandstand section and just a couple minute walk to the main building. We had dinner at the Turf Club Lounge. Pizza for B, Joe and I shared the Turf Burger and Buffalo Chicken dip.

I was asleep before 8!!! Up and waiting on everyone else to get moving. Animal Kingdom today and dinner at Terralina in Disney Springs tonight!

OOOOPPPPPPSSSSS, we are home and I didn't keep up! Let me try to recap.

Our first AK day. We got there about an hour or so after opening. It was really quiet the entire day. We did Flight of Passage, Safari, Everest a couple times, Blondie rode the rapids. Lunch at Satu'li and had the peppermint cream mousse. It was amazing!!!!!!! We were having dinner with friends at DS this night so we headed back to rest up and change before dinner. They met us at Saratoga Springs. We asked how they could get in at the gate. All they had to do was give them our room number and name. They said it was no problem. We drove over to the walk path to Disney Springs and walked over for dinner. We ate at Terralina and everything was fantastic. They still have tables spaced out for social distancing inside so that was really nice. Our server Jojo was just wonderful.

Epcot was up next. Again we were lazy in the morning and went about an hour after opening. We got in Soarin, LwtL, Frozen, Spaceship Earth. We were going to hop on Test Track but we had to leave for Give Kids the World. Lunch was at Rose and Crown, a first for all of us. We all enjoyed our choices. Night of a Millin Lights at Give Kids the World was AMAZING!!! I've heard it was a one and done since they will be opening up again but we would go back in a heartbeat if they offered it again.

More to come and pics later!

OMG! Jojo is one of Katie's best friends! There are even pictures of her in this article http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/articles/take-look-disney-springs-new-health-and-safety-measures

She was just the cutest and sweetest servers we had all week. Joe asked her about bourbon and she said "Is Macallan bourban?" Joe said no and she responded with "I just turned 21 I don't know!" Honestly, she was just wonderful!!!!

That is so cute! Before the covid closure she had been an assistant server, so when they came back she got a promotion to server and was super excited. She's been a great friend to Katie and Katie really misses her since moving up to Sanford.
