Jeff & Joe's April 2015 Pre-trip TR

Wow, only a few more work days and then we are off! stars stars stars

I didn't plan as much as usual, but I did break down and do a spreadsheet - I can't help it silly

We fly out of San Fran Saturday morning and get in to MCO around 6:30 pm. We'll pick up a rental car, drive down to Target for a few items, then head over to POFQ.

I'm kind of excited that we get to completely bypass the front desk this time (our room number will be texted to us when it's ready), but I kinda will miss the check in experience too. But I am hoping we still get in at a reasonable enough hour to catch the boat to DTD. If not, we will stroll the grounds of POFQ and POR, which always is magical.

Park plans laid out in the attached spreadsheet - woo! I haven't decided if I like my FP+ strategy or not yet, but I'm not too worried about it. I geared most of them towards evening, since we always get to the parks at rope drop and knock out our key attractions within the first hour or 2 with little trouble or wait times.

We got lucky with BTMRR - it re-opens from refurb on our last day there. So I snatched a FP+.

We have a later flight leaving on Saturday, so we plan to hit up HS with EMH, get ToT and RnRoller Coaster under our belts, then drive over to MK and hit up a few rides there before a final lunch at Cosmic Ray's. And with the latest flight delay, we can wander around a little more casually before leaving.

Only 4 ADRs, but we are really looking forward to all fo them. Beaches and Cream has been on the list forever, so thrilled to finally have plans to go there. I want that No Way Jose sundae!!! Or the Milky Way. I keep waffling, though I committed to the NWJ.

Of course, Yak & Yeti is my favorite, so we'll be there on Wednesday. And we snagged a lunch ADR for BoG on Monday! YAY! Orders are already in.

WOOOOOOO!!!

And has anyone tried driving into DTD lately? Just wondering if it's even worth trying or if we should plan on taking a boat or something else.

Enjoy! Too bad we miss you guys by a day, but we'll have the place warmed up for you. wink

RE: driving to DTD - when we took the bus there yesterday, the road in front of DTD is still under construction and once we dropped off people at Typhoon Lagoon, we headed back around by Old Key West and Saratoga Springs before we got dropped off at the Marketplace. There were some cars turning into DTD by TL to get to the parking garage. I would expect it's not too bad if you're going in off hours.

We're going to Beaches and Cream for the first time in September. I too have my eye on the no way Jose. I can't wait to hear what you think of it mickey

Sounds like a great trip! We had no problems driving to DTD when we stayed offsite in January. But then again that was january so who knows what it's like now.

We might be passing on Y&Y on our next trip for this very reason! eek eek eek The in-laws are not super into Asian cuisine but they love BBQ so that might have to be the way we go. I know I'm going to have a really hard time walking past Yak & Yeti though... sad

Go there afterwards for the fried ice cream dessert! They let you sit at the bar.

I would love to meet you guys, but I think that even under a best-case scenario, you'd reach DTD around the time hubby and I needed to get to bed so we can get up around 4:00-4:30 am to make our 7:20 am flight home. sad bummer!

I have and it's not too bad unless you are going late at night which can get really backed up. I would just take Disney transportation.

I would love to find a little time to meet with you guys! Of course, if you don't mind. Be sure to stop by Trolley Car Cafe while you are Studios! Even if you don't get anything, you can still come in and look around.

Thanks for all the feedback on DTD and traffic!

CCP - Joe and I have a bet on when we will actually get to POFQ. I'm convinced we will be a the hotel by 8:00 pm, including the Target run! He thinks I am nuts. Either way, if we are tired we might pass on doing anything other than a stroll around the resort.

JMed - I think you guys should accidentally inadvertently on purpose miss your flight and stay a few extra days Tongue

Many - thanks, and we will look you up at the Trolley Car Cafe! We have at least 3 HS opportunities to meet you! Smile

Oooo good idea! Sounds like a great use of time while P is napping. I suppose I shouldn't turn down a Yak Attack either...

It was a bit of a pain in the ars when we drove to DTD IN January Jeff. There was a lot of construction and the traffic was crazy even in January. If you go early in the day, you might be okay, but any other time I would recommend the boats or a taxi.

Ok, so I think the idea of driving to DTD on a Saturday night around 8:00 pm would probably be a bad idea.....thanks for all the insights!

sounds like a great trip my mam saw your spreadsheet and said "ours doesn't have pictures Amy" I just cant compete!!!

also having been to beaches and cream twice and having both the No Way Jose and the milkyway one I LOVED them both and would have either again but be prepared for NWH have plenty of fluids I was thirsty for hours afterwards (I was going to say days but that sounds waaaaaaay dramatic!!!) whichever one you go for they are both amazing though!!!

cant wait to hear about your trip!!!
